The IUCN Maldives Marine Project works to improve the outlook for coral reef ecosystems and the communities dependent on them, increase capacity to manage coral reefs, and improve access to knowledge. Overview of Role: We are looking for a motivated and experienced Private Sector Liaison Officer to engage with partners to advance marine management of Maldivian coral reefs. The position is Male’ based but will require regular liaison with resort managers and councilors of North Ari atoll to enhance public-private partnerships and to identify management options and frameworks in collaboration with Maldives government to better manage marine resources. We believe this is a significant career opportunity to contribute towards an innovative and evolving program to enhance marine management and decentralized management of marine resources, whilst demonstrating your leadership, project management and technical expertise. Main Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Private Sector Liaison Officer will be to: 1. Develop partnerships and networks with resorts and local islands of North Ari and involve them in IUCN’s projects to support the sustainable management of their marine resources. 2. Work closely with government ministries to develop management options, policies and procedures to monitor, report on and manage marine resources. 3. Provide technical expertise to implement practical solutions to environmental mismanagement. 4. Work closely with the IUCN Local community outreach officer to develop synergetic initiatives to strengthen the relationship between the public and private sector 5. Represent IUCN in partner meetings and workshops. Qualifications and Requirements: A relevant higher degree but preferably in business and biodiversity, marine resources management or project management Min. 5 years experience in project development and management Experience with the private sector and preferably with island resorts in Maldives Excellent command of English and Dhivehi, both written and spoken Ability to communicate well with a range of partners and stakeholders, including government officials, resort managers, national and international agencies, NGOs etc.
