Job Description – Catering Assistant Job Title Catering Assistant Summary of the Role The Catering Assistant will be responsible for providing a high standard of catering Line Manager Catering Manager Liaising with Teaching and Support Staff, Parents and Pupils Main responsibilities The duties of the post holder will usually include the following: 1. Maintain standards of safety and hygiene per legislation and other statutory requirements 2. Set up service counters, serving food and clear down of area afterwards within the main dining hall and kitchen area 3. Cleaning of all crockery, cutlery and service utensils 4. Ensure the highest possible standards of presentation by ensuring that displays, fixtures, fittings and premises are maintained in accordance with the cleaning schedule 5. Contribute towards the delivery of hospitality and events around site including the set-up, service and clear down as required, including out of hours events 6. Deal with student queries or requests in a polite and efficient manner 7. Present a smart, professional appearance and excellent personal hygiene 8. Report any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss or damage and act as appropriately 9. Attend meetings and training sessions as required 10. Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of all Arnold Lodge policies and procedures. 11. Carry out any reasonable request from any member of the Management team within the general scope and purpose of the job Notes: During periods when the school is closed, routine deep cleaning is undertaken for a short period before term commences and at end of term. The timings of this can be discussed and alternative working hours, once the pupils have vacated, if required Additional Duties To perform any responsibilities associated with being a member of the school's staff, as reasonably directed by the Operations Manager or Head of School Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be defined. All staff are expected to comply with any reasonable request from a senior leader to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description. It is understood that areas of responsibility are from time to time subject to review and are negotiable in the light of the needs of the school and the professional development of the staff This job description may be reviewed at the end of the academic year or earlier if necessary. In addition, it may be amended at any time after consultation with the postholder.

Conditions of Appointment

Hours of Appointment This is a permanent, full time position for 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday (7.30-3.30pm) 35 weeks a year.

Notice Period

During the probationary period, the period of notice will be one week on either party. The probationary period will run for 6 months. After this time, the notice period will be 1 month.

• DBS checked (although this will be

carried out on appointment by the school)
