Joan Miró was born in 1893 in Barcelona. He studied business and worked for two years as a clerk in a

drugstore, until an illness forced him to retire for a long period in a family house in the small village of Mont-Roig del Camp.

In 1928, the Museum of Modern Art in New York acquired two of his canvases, which was the first international recognition of his work.

One year later, he married Pilar Juncosa. Joan Miró died in 1983 in Palma de Mallorca.
