Sincere congratulations to our Fine Arts Department and many students who presented and led a moving and meaningful Remembrance Day ceremony. Through art displays, music, drama, and multi-media presentations our students remembered and reflected on the sacrifices of our veterans, and were encouraged to do their part to build a positive future and community. Our appreciation also goes to Ms. McNee and her theatre students, Ms. Freeman and the concert band, as well as Ms. Carvalheiro and Ms. Taylor and their art students, Ms. Zuccolo and Ms. Fackler, and our student multimedia tech and lighting crews and the Glee Club and cadets for a wonderful ceremony. Also, special thanks to our guest trumpeter Bomdardier Darrel Penner of the 15 th Field Artillery Band who led the “Last Post” and “Minute of Silence”. It is hard to believe that we are already past the mid-term point of Semester 1. Report cards were sent home on November 23 rd . I encourage families to take this opportunity to take a step back and reflect on how the school year is going. The report card provides important indicators of progress in both academic achievement and work habits. We are looking forward to our first Conference Day on December 7 th . Our Leadership club will be hosting about 130 Seniors for the Annual Christmas Brunch. These students have worked hard to prepare for this wonderful event with the help of Ms. Musani and Ms. Cain. As well, during our Conference Day, there will be a variety of speakers and workshops for our students – more information can be found in our newsletter. Mrs. Walker Principal BREAKFAST WITH SANTA ANNUAL FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER We would like to invite all students, staff, parents and community members to the Annual Burnett Breakfast With Santa Food Bank Fundraiser Student Council is hosting a breakfast event on Friday, December 22 from 8am-9am in support of the local Richmond Food Bank. Students, staff, parents, and past graduates are invited to attend this most worthwhile event! Last year’s breakfast was a huge success raising just over $2000 for the Food Bank, and we are hoping to donate even more this year! We encourage those interested in attending this event to purchase tickets ahead of time through the school office. A full breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes, mandarin oranges, coffee, tea or juice will be served. A host of entertainment will be on hand at the breakfast fundraiser including Burnett’s Concert Band, Glee Singers, Teacher Song Performances, Santa Photos, and much more. Tickets are $5 each or four for $15 if you make your purchase before December 21. Additionally, tickets will be sold at the door on the morning of December 22; however, we sold out early last year. To avoid disappointment, advance ticket purchase is recommended. Please join us on Friday, December 16, for a fun-filled breakfast in celebration of the holiday season and in support of the Richmond Food Bank.
