JLR Keeps Automotive Business Agile Through Enhanced Supplier Connectivity Covisint Platform Delivers Transparency and Reduces Legacy Costs THE CUSTOMER Jaguar Land Rover is the UK’s largest automotive manufacturing business, built around two iconic British car brands: Land Rover, the world’s leading manufacturer of premium all-wheel drive vehicles and Jaguar, one of the world’s premier luxury sports saloon and sports car marques. THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE After its spin-off from Ford Motor Company in 2008, JLR needed a secure solution for global supplier connectivity and collaboration, similar in scope to its legacy company. Updating legacy systems was also necessary, but replacing existing infrastructure was time consuming and cost prohibitive. As a result, JLR faced several technology and flexibility challenges in providing its 3,000 global suppliers with secure access to critical business information. JLR implemented the Covisint B2B Cloud Platform as a means for secure communication and collaboration between the company and its suppliers. SOLUTION Securing and maintaining reliable B2B systems with increasing complexity, as well as integrating with external user security and administration systems in real-time, are tasks outside the core competencies of most organizations. The need to focus on core business processes led JLR to Covisint. The Covisint B2B Cloud platform permitted rapid implementation and reduced the cost of maintaining a supplier-facing collaboration solution. This allowed JLR to improve and streamline business processes with supplier partners globally. Covisint’s B2B Cloud platform also serves as a means for secure com- munication and collaboration between the company and its suppliers.
