ENJOY THREE DIVERSE EXHIBITS ON THE THEME OF THE ENVIRONMENT. JJ Jasperson, Denis Bolohan, and co-creators Deborah Farquharson & Jocelyn Hirtes share their personal connection with nature and invite us to reflect on our own place in the world we live in. Their unique interpretations pull us into their worlds with larger than life images and interactive exhibits. Become a part of a painting, be drawn into a fieldstone pile and walk a path through the land we live on. We are also excited to welcome over 40 artists to halls, shops, outdoor spaces and artists studios in the Creemore village and surrounding countryside. Take a beautiful autumn drive through the hills and visit artists home studios and the Dunedin Village Hall. See first hand where the artists work and where their inspiration comes from. Use the map on the reverse side of this guide to help you find them.
JJ JASPERSON | SHIFTING LANDSCAPESStation on the Green • Room 1 • Saturday and Sunday • 10 am to 4 pmVisual artist/painter JJ Jasperson considers the ongoing effects of climate change in an installation of super sized prints and animation. We know climate change is real, we hear about it in the news, we know the science, but when we see a pretty farmer’s field on a sunny day, it is easy to disavow. This visual cautionary tale sets out to remind us we are all witnesses to climate change as it impacts our physical landscape, our weather systems and our water; it also impacts our collective psyche.
DENIS BOLOHAN | N 44° 19’ 37” E -80° 06’ 19” Behind The Creemore Log Cabin • Saturday and Sunday • 10 am to 4 pmThe title of the Creemore labyrinth is from the village’s latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates. The design takes its inspiration from the surrounding topography—the Purple Hills and the Mad and Noisy Rivers. Walking the labyrinth suggests a journey through the surrounding topography to the village centre and out again.
DEBORAH FARQUHARSON AND JOCELYN HIRTESON THE CURIOUSNESS OF A FIELDSTONE PILEThe Creemore Log Cabin • Saturday and Sunday • 10 am to 4 pmMounds of field stone can be found in any farm field in southern Ontario. Deborah Farquharson and Jocelyn Hirtes of Synchronized Smile invite you to come and ponder the nature of these mundane yet mysterious structures. Follow your curiosity and find us in the historic Log Cabin, where we promise you’ll see these familiar landscape elements in a new light.
