    Jagan Institute of Management Studies,Sector 5, Rohini, New Delhi organized

    TUESDAY TALK SERIES on Tuesday,

    24th

    July, 2012 at its campus. The

    continuous faculty interaction

    programme was an initiative by the

    academicians to present their research

    papers or any other similar activity with

    JIMS fraternity. The resource persons

    for the presentations were Ms Deepika

    Saxena (Assistant Professor) JIMS, Ms.

    Parul Raj (Associate Professor) JIMS &

    Ms Ritu Bajaj (Associate Professor)

    JIMS. The JIMS faculty and other staff

    attended the presentation.

    Our first presenter Ms. Deepika Saxena

    had already presented the paper at IIM

    Bangalore for which she was had been

    acclaimed. The paper presented was onthe topic of Technology Based

    Initiatives by Indian Commercial Banks

    towards Financial Inclusion. Ms.

    Deepika gave a brief introduction onthe importance of Technology which

    has now become a driving force of

    change. It has revolutionalized the

    concept of doing business and helps inits better and advanced understanding.

    Inclusion and defined its roles in various

    forms not restricted to opening of just

    bank accounts and described it as credit

    cards, payment remittances, insurance,

    financial advice etc. She illustrated her

    research by stating that with financial

    inclusion we as in the country have able

    to reach to the masses (under-

    privileged). She further propounded by

    illustrating examples of Mobile ATM ,

    Customer Service Centers and Biometric

    ATMs which has enabled the reach

    ability and transfer of money in far way

    places. Technology has become fasterand better but the trust is still missing in

    the people belonging to rural areas. She

    further stressed on solutions where

    literacy programs and awareness

    programmes should be arranged

    through credit counseling centers. She

    also highlighted the importance of trust

    in a medium which can be reached to

    the masses e.g. postal services.

    Our presenters Ms Parul Raj & Dr. Ritu

    Bajaj had already presented the paper

    at Jaipuria Institute of Management,Noida. It was a contribution effort by

    Ms Parul Raj and Dr. Ritu Bajaj on the

    topic of Harnessing the power of

    Generation Y. Hence, both were thereto present the paper. Ms Parul Raj gave

    defined them as being technology

    savvy, ambitious & optimistic, attention

    seekers, arrogant and yet socially

    sensitive and family centric. She

    categorized them into ages as Boomers

    (1946-1964), Generation X (1965-1982)

    and Generation Y (1982-2001). Dr. Bajaj

    illustrated the study as a research

    methodology on Generation Y with the

    help of an internet questionnaire survey

    of under graduate and post graduate

    students with close ended questions

    such as:

    What influences them whilechoosing their careers?

    Who do they consult for solvingquestions?

    What influences them whilechoosing an organization

    Who are their role models?All of the above questions were

    answered through data analysis charts,

    where generation Ys preferences wereput in order. They further explained the

    importance of research which was done

    to analyze the retention ratio of

    Generation Y when catering to their

    employability options.

    They finally concluded by stating some

    recommendations of Generation Y in

    context of the retention issues that they

    prefer High Quality colleagues, flexible

    work arrangements, prospects for

    advancements , access to new

    experience and challenges.

    The presentations were well

    appreciated by the audience. It proved

    to be a good learning experience formost of the participants. Many of them

    were encouraged to undertake research

    in new fields and share their

    observations with others, and werelearning and a fruitful experience for

    the staff & other faculty members. Also,
