I’m a certified DFSS green belt with a good balance of skills to enable effective problem solving & decision making during the design process. - Career History – January 20012 – Present day –Design Engineer Bearward Engineering Ltd Full Design & 3D model creation of industrial radiator units from component through to full assembly level using PTC Creo2 which are then transferred into 2D drawings for manufacture. Radan programming & tooling to produce sheet metal parts ready for folding. Oracle system to create bill of materials & implement design change. Project planning & management to ensure all drawings are ready for production & any long lead time items arrive on time so the build schedule isn’t jepordised. Mainly working with large sheet metal fabricated components & bolted structures. February 1998 - August 2008 - Design Engineer - Cummins Engine Co Ltd. Producing innovative new designs from concept through to production using ProEngineer Wildfire 3D CAD models which were then transferred into 2D CAD drawings for manufacturing. Working as part of a multinational team of designers I was responsible for new component designs, packaging, design reviews, model builds, overseeing engine testing & liaising with suppliers to ensure design integrity, cost margins & delivery targets were met. I successfully completed a DFSS green belt project which focused on improving durability & serviceability of a 60Ltr 2 stage intercooler system. I was part of a design team focussing on cost reduction & adapting a 78Ltr 3500HP engine for the power generation market. The works focused on the lubrication, cooling & exhaust systems. My work also involved Tolerance stack ups, Modal analysis studies, FMEA’s, GD&T. I also trained a team of 7 designers in India via weekly tele conference to get them up to Cummins design & drafting standards.
