Warnings and Precautions for Use

l If a problem occurs

• If someone swallows ink or cleaning solution by mistake, keep him or her quiet and take them to see adoctor immediately. Do not let allow the person to swallow the vomit.

• If you inhale a great deal of vapor and feel ill, immediately move to a location with plenty of fresh air, andkeep yourself warm and quiet. Consult a doctor as soon as possible.

• In the unlikely event that a foreign object such as metal, water, liquid enters the inside of this machine, turnoff the power immediately. Afterwards be sure to unplug the power plug from the outlet. If used as it is, itmay cause fire or electric shock.

• If ink leaks, turn off the main power switch and unplug the power cable. After that, contact your localdistributor, our sales office, or service center.

• In case of an abnormal incident such as smoke emission or a strange odor, immediately turn off the powerswitch, and make sure you remove the plug from the outlet. Continuing use even after an abnormalincident occurs may cause fire or electric shocks. Ensure that there is no more smoke, and request repairsfrom your local distributor or our sales office.

• Never attempt repairs yourself as it can be dangerous.

l Handling of Ink and Washing Liquid

• Make sure to read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling ink and washing liquid.• Some of the ingredients are toxic to aquatic organisms. Prevent leakage into natural water systems or

domestic wastewater.• If the ink gets on your skin or your clothes, rinse it out immediately with soap or water. If you get the ink in

your eyes, wash them immediately with water and consult a doctor.• Dispose of the waste ink according to local regulations.• Store ink and washing liquid in a cool, dark place. Also, keep them out of reach of children.

• When handling ink and washing liquid, pay close attention to ventilation and be sure to wear the includedsafety glasses and gloves. The ink or washing liquid may get in your eyes.

• Using alternative ink may cause malfunctions. Malfunctions caused due to the use of alternative ink are outof the scope of warranty. Please understand that the cost of repairs in this case is to be borne by thecustomer.

• Never refill an ink bottle. Malfunctions caused due to refilling of the ink bottle are out of the scope ofwarranty, and our company does not assume any responsibility for the same.

• Do not use the ink designed for this printer with other printers. Doing so may cause damage to the printer.

l Handling Ink Bottles

• Keep the ink bottles and the waste ink tank out of reach of children.

• If an ink bottle is moved from a cold place to a warmer place, let it sit for at least three hours before use.• Open the ink bottle just before use and use it up as soon as possible. If the bottles are left open for a long

time, the printing quality may degrade.• For device protection, do not use any ink other than the dedicated ink.

• Do not knock the ink bottle hard or shake it violently. This can cause the ink to leak from the bottle.

l Be Careful with Moving Parts

• Keep your fingers and other body parts away from hazardous moving parts. There is a risk of injury.

l Warning Labels

• Warning labels are affixed to this machine. Fully understand the contents of the warning labels. If awarning label becomes illegible due to dirt or peels off, purchase a new one from your local distributor orour sales office.

l Ultraviolet Rays (UV), UV-LED

• The LED UV unit is extremely hot. Turn off the LED UV unit and perform maintenance once the devicecools down adequately. Otherwise, you may burn yourself.

• Some UV rays may leak from the circumference of the LED UV unit. Wear gloves, long-sleeved clothes,light-shielding masks, light-shielding glasses, etc. to protect your skin and eyes from UV exposure.(1) Exposure of skin or eyes to UV rays can cause inflammation or skin cancer.(2) Even if the UV light is weak and not likely to cause inflammation, repeated exposure to it may result in a chronic

disease.(3) Viewing the light from the lamp with the naked eye can cause eye pain or impaired vision.(4) UV rays can cause damage to your eyes.

• Acute impairment: sensation of having a foreign body in the eye, pain, flowing tears• Chronic impairment: cataract, etc.

• Never look directly at the light emitted from the LED UV unit with the naked eye. This can cause eye painor impaired vision. Be sure to wear the included safety glasses.

• Do not directly expose your skin to ultraviolet (UV) rays. This can cause skin inflammation.

• Contact of flammables with high temperature parts such as the LED UV unit may cause ignition or smoke.Also, leaving flammable items under the LED UV unit for several seconds may cause ignition or smoke.

• The glass on the underside of the LED UV unit must be handled with the provided gloves. Please do nottouch it with bare hands. Doing so may significantly degrade UV curing. If it gets dirty, wipe it using a cleangauze moistened with ethanol. (Do not wipe the outer cover with ethanol. This can cause the paint to comeoff.)

• Never use an LED UV unit or UV power supplies other than those recommended by us. Using productsbesides those recommended by us can cause fire or damage to the equipment. Malfunctions caused dueto the use of non-recommended products is out of the scope of warranty, and our company does notassume any responsibility for the same.

• Do not drop the glass components, bump them against things, use excessive force on them or scratchthem.

l Grounding Work

• When installing electrical outlets, grounding work is necessary to prevent electrocution accidents.• Carry out the grounding work.• Always perform grounding to prevent electrocution accidents.

l Installation Location and Operating Environment

• To prevent ignition of the ink, do not allow any open flames in the place where the unit is used.

• Be sure to install ventilation equipment if you are using this machine in a poorly ventilated or closed room.• This machine is not an explosion-proof type. Do not use it in hazardous atmosphere. There is a risk of

explosion.• Make sure to observe the following to prevent this machine from failure during exhaust port formation.

(1) Follow the regional EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) guidelines of your country when installing the exhaustport.

(2) If you install a closure valve in the exhaust port, make sure to open the closure valve when using this machine.

• Do not use the machine in a flammable atmosphere (such as gasoline, flammable sprays, thinners,lacquers, dust, etc.). Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.

• Do not bring paper or cloth close to the LED UV unit or cover LED UV unit with it. Doing so may cause fire.

• Do not use in areas with high humidity. Also, do not pour water on the unit. Doing so may cause fire,electric shocks or malfunctions.

• As far as possible, use this machine in a room that is not dusty.• This machine is not suitable for use in the presence of children.• This can cause dust to adhere to head and ink drops to drip. Perform head cleaning.• Keep this machine level.

l Do Not Climb on the Table

• Never climb on the table where the machine is placed. Doing so may cause the board surface accuracy togo wrong.

l Power supply and voltage

• This machine has parts that generate high voltage. Get the electrical work done only from a licensedelectrician.

• The included power cable set is for use with this machine only. It cannot be used with other electronicdevices. Also, please do not use any power cable set other than the one provided with this machine. Doingso may cause fire or electric shocks.

• Do not use extension cords. Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.• If any kind of metal touches the edge of the power plug, it may cause fire or electric shocks.• Do not overload the electrical socket. Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.• Do not use this machine when the power cable appears to be damaged or has exposed or broken core.

Continuing use in this state may cause fire or electric shocks. Please request the service center for a cablereplacement.

• Do not handle the power plug with wet hands. Doing so may cause electric shocks.• Make sure to hold the power plug properly when removing it. Pulling the power cable can damage it and

cause fire or electric shocks.• Do not use any voltage value other than the one indicated. Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.• Do not use any power frequency other than the one indicated. Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.

• Use this machine with the indicated power specifications. Also, make sure you plug the power cable into agrounded outlet. Doing so may cause fire or electric shocks.

• Be careful not to damage, break or treat the power cable. Also do not place any heavy object on the powercable, or heat or pull it. Doing so can cause it to break, resulting in fire or electric shocks.

• Only those familiar with the operation procedures of the machine should activate the main power switch.

• Make sure the breaker is always on.

l Disposal

• If you want to dispose of this machine, please contact your local distributor or service center. If you want todispose the machine by yourself, please contact an industrial waste processor.

• Give the waste ink or the ink bottles that you no longer to your local distributor or service center. If youwant to dispose of them by yourself, please contact an industrial waste processor or dispose themaccording to local regulations.

l Handling Vacuum

• Never disassemble or modify the vacuum. Also, do not touch the relief valve (pressure regulating valve) orblock the vacuum exhaust port. This can cause a decrease in suction force, heat generation ormalfunctions. (The vacuum is directly below the table.)

• Using this machine in a low temperature environment can sometimes cause the vacuum to emit a high-pitched sound, but this is not a malfunction.

l Anti freezing liquid

• Use our exclusive anti freezing liquid. Using any other anti freezing liquid can cause the cooling system tomalfunction. Malfunctions caused due to the use of other anti freezing liquids is out of the scope ofwarranty, and our company does not assume any responsibility for the same.

• Do not let the anti freezing liquid come in direct contact with your skin. If it comes in contact with your skin or clothing, immediately rinse with soap under running water. If you get the anti freezing liquid in your eyes, wash them with plenty of water and seek medical treatment.

• Make sure to read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before using the anti freezing liquid.• If you accidentally swallow the anti freezing liquid, immediately spit it out and seek medical treatment.• Be sure to not generate any sources of ignition such as static electricity and impact sparks.• If you accidentally touch hot anti freeze mixture, immediately rinse it off with soap and water, cool

adequately with ice water and seek medical treatment.• Use the following methods to dispose of unneeded anti freezing liquid.

(1) Absorb with sawdust or a rag and incinerate it(2) Explain the details of disposal to a licensed industrial waste processor and request for disposal

• When handling the anti freezing liquid, be sure to wear the included safety glasses and gloves.

• Store anti freezing liquid in a cool, dark place. Also, keep it out of reach of children.

l Do Not Disassemble or Remodel

• Never disassemble or modify this machine or ink bottle. Disassembling or modifying will result either inelectric shock or malfunction of this machine.

l Handling Media

• Do not leave the media set on the machine when returning home for the night. This can cause dust toadhere to the media.

• Use our recommended media to ensure stable and high-quality printing.• Be careful about the expansion and contraction of the media. Do not use media immediately after opening

the package. The media may expand or shrink depending on the temperature and humidity of the room.After opening the package, let the media sit for at least 30 minutes at the place of use before installing it inthe device.

• Do not use curled media. This not only causes media jams, but also affects image quality. Straighten themedia before using if it is severely curled. When storing coated fix-sized paper in rolls, make sure thecoated surface is on the outside.

• Keep the media away from dust. Wiping dust off the media creates static electricity, which has acounterproductive effect.

l Maintenance

• To prevent electric shocks during maintenance, always turn the main power switch off, and remove thepower plug. Depending on the device, the condenser may require one minute to discharge. After turningthe main power switch off and removing the power plug, wait three minutes before working.

• Never touch the areas around where high temperature caution plaques are affixed. Otherwise, you mayburn yourself. If you need to touch the high temperature area, wear heat-insulating gloves to protect yourhands.

• When cleaning the head, wiper or cap, be sure to wear the included safety glasses and gloves.

• Using this machine around water increases the chances of short circuiting. Avoid use in areas with water.A short circuit may result in the operator getting electrocuted or cause a fire.

• After many years of use, dirt and dust may accumulate in the conductive parts and insulated parts of thedevice, resulting in electricity leak. Clean such parts periodically.

• Do not spray compressed air on the machine. This can cause dirt and dust to scatter and penetrate theconductive parts, leading to malfunction. Always use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the dirt and dust.

• To prevent accidents, make sure to preform regular inspections and replacement of the parts that need tobe replaced periodically.

• This machine has parts that need regular replacement. We recommend you to get a maintenance contract.• After many years of use, dirt and dust may accumulate in the stabilizers and other used parts, increasing

the risk of ignition or smoke due to short circuits or deteriorated insulation. Please clean such partsperiodically and replace the parts determined to be deteriorated by the insulation resistance test

• After many years of use, the screws of the conductive parts may loosen, increasing the risk of ignition orsmoke. Please tighten them periodically.

Installation PrecautionsWhen installing this machine, take the following precautions.

• This machine should be installed in a dedicated private room, in a location where it can be reliably isolatedby physical means such as an enclosure. The isolated area should be set up so that no one can easilyreach the printer and ink supply unit.

• This isolated area should be prohibited for everyone except the trainees of our safety education programor those who have been trained by such a trainee. If an untrained person enters the restricted area while the machine is in operation, there is a risk ofaccidental contact with the Y-bar that is in the process of printing, resulting in injury.

• This machine should only be operated by the trainees of our safety education program or those who havebeen trained by such a trainee.

• Use the machine under the following environmental conditions. Operating environment: 15 to 30˚C (59 to 86˚F) 35 to 65% Rh (without condensation)Accuracy assurance temperature: 18 to 25°C (64.4 to 77°F)

Usage RestrictionsThis machine can be dangerous due to parts that move at high speeds, parts with high temperature and UVcuring units. This machine is to be used only by those having complete understanding of dangers associatedwith these parts.

User RestrictionsThis machine should only be operated by the trainees of our safety education program or those who havebeen trained by such a trainee.

Area Restrictions• Only adequately trained and versed individuals are allowed to come closer to the equipment. Set area

restrictions within the range shown in the following figure. As for the method of area restriction, themachine should be installed in a dedicated room, and it should be enclosed for everyone to understandthat it is a danger zone.

• The danger zone should be prohibited for everyone except the trainees of our safety education programor those who have been trained by such a trainee. If an untrained person enters the restricted area whilethe machine is in operation, there is a risk of accidental contact with the Y-bar that is in the process ofprinting, resulting in injury.

• Follow EN ISO23857 standards when securing the area with safety trellis.• When installing the setup in a dedicated room, install locks and interlocks on the door of the room, and

lastly conduct risk assessment at the installation site before use.

Avoid These While Operating thePrinterDoing the things mentioned below when the printer is in operation might result in an injury.

l Do not put your hands or any object on the tableDo not put your hands on the movement channel of the carriage when the power is on. Also, do not put anything on the table other than the printing paper. Make sure that the thickness of the paper is 50 mm (1.97 inch) or less.

l Do not disturb the carriage operationDo not manually move the carriage during operation (during printing or cleaning). If the carriage is manuallymoved during operation, an operational error message is displayed.

l Do not put your hands or any object on the bearing partDo not put your hands, feet or any object on the Y-bar or on the bearing part on the right side of the mainbody.

l Be careful not to get your hands pinched in the gap between the Y-bar and thecarriage

There is a risk of a person getting handicapped due to crushing or shearing if their hands or other body partsget caught between the Y-bar and the carriage. Do not put your hands in the gap between the Y-bar and the carriage when the power is on.
