JFS is supported by the United Jewish Federation of Utah, and is a member of the Association of Jewish Family & Children’s Agencies. Jewish Family Service is here for EVERYONE. That may seem obvious for those of you touched directly by JFS’s programs & services. Oſtenmes, however, when we talk with community members, they don’t realize the breadth of JFS’s reach. Did you know? JFS provides quality counseling to individuals, couples and families … Our staff of skilled and compassionate therapists includes professionals with training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, and Marriage and Family Therapy. JFS is an expert in senior adult services … One-third of the 954 people we served last year were over age 65. When you include the family members of aging adults, the number is even higher. The combinaon of our programs, knowledge, and experience gives us the leading edge in assisng seniors and their families navigate the journey of aging. JFS is a rare one-stop shop for emergency assistance … We provide a variety of assistance all in one place to address the differing needs of families in financial crisis, including emergency funds and a food pantry. JFS is here for those with financial means AND those without … Our clients come from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds. JFS is one of the only agencies along the Wasatch Front offering our services on a sliding fee scale. JFS serves people of all faiths … JFS impacts the Jewish and general communies through our offices in Salt Lake City and Park City. On average, roughly half of the clients we serve each year are not Jewish. In keeping with the Jewish values of Tikkun Olam – Repairing the World, and Kehillah Community, it is important to JFS that our agency be here for everyone. At this Passover, as we are seated around our Seder table and feast on our holiday meal, we are grateful for all that we have. But we acknowledge that there are others – too many others – in our community and the community at large who find themselves seated at a different table: the table of hunger, poverty, depression, isolaon, and family problems. May this be the year that we grow in our understanding and compassion. Let us give a voice to those who are hungry, poor, struggling to cope, alone, and so oſten overlooked. In its day-to-day work Jewish Family Service connues the important mission of valuing community and taking care of those among us who most need our aenon. JFS supports, strengthens and restores hope to all we serve. We are pleased to share with you this 2014 Annual Report, highlighting the work of JFS over the past year. We can respond to our community because you respond to us. We could not do what we do without the inspiring group of commied volunteers and donors that partner with us every day. Participant testimonial:

"Learning about and practicing mind-body skills in a group facilitated by

Amy Edwards was one of the best things I've done this year! I learned new

things about myself and discovered ways in which I can respond more

effectively to the stress I experience in my day-to-day life. I learned new

(and better) ways to relax both my mind and my body. And, I'm sleeping

better. Amy helped me connect with my inherent creativity and wonder,

and participating in the workshop brought new energy and positivity to

my life, especially to those areas where I often feel stuck." Julie P.

At A Glance … Last year, JFS provided:

1,695 hours of counseling to individuals, couples and families.

7,479 volunteer hours of service to support the programs of JFS.

Nearly 1,200 hours of respite care to caregivers of the elderly and sick loved ones.

Over $13,000 in Emergency Financial Assistance.

Education to over 600 people through our Community Lecture Series — programs which are free and open to the public, and are presented by experts on topics related to the mission and services of JFS.

Support for 75 job seekers attending our weekly Park City Career Network.

Socialization, networking, and education for adults through our monthly, multi-generational and non- denominational Lunch Bunch groups. The program began in August 2010 with the first group for widowers, followed in January 2011 with a group for widows. In 2012 and 2013, two more groups were formed for retired and semi-retired men. Currently, a new group for lesbian women of all ages is being formed. The JFS Lunch Bunch program and the JCC co-host lectures on topics of interest to its members. Lunch Bunch also partners with Congregation Kol Ami’s Mitzvah Network, helping with the holiday food bag program. Contact Hindy Friedman at [email protected] for more information.

These grateful words from a happy client say it all:

Dear Alle,

I've been singing your praises … L. is happy as a clam with his earphones

and infinite playlist! I "plug him in" nearly every morning, and he is self-activated ...

Not anxious about the time, who's coming to pick him up … The music keeps him

occupied for hours. It's the best thing in ages! He's calm and engaged any time he's

listening. Truthfully, it's the most engaging activity he's participated in in a long time

… He's always ready and excited to put on the earphones and listen to his music.

Thank you SOOOOOO much for making this opportunity available and

taking the time and effort to include L. as a beneficiary. … K.”
