PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (CAP)
is a result of merger between PT Tri Polyta Indonesia Tbk (TPI)
and PT Chandra Asri (CA) on January 1st, 2011.
TPI was the largest Polypropylene producer in Indonesia
and was established in 1984. CA was the producer of Olefins
and Polyethylene products and was established in 1989.
After the merger, we became the largest publicly listed
petrochemical company in Indonesia. Currently, CAP is owned
by two major shareholders, Barito Pacific Group and SCG
Chemicals Co., Ltd. (SCG), a subsidiary of SCG Group, Thailand.

INTRODUCTION
CAP operates the country’s only Naphtha Cracker and is also
the largest integrated petrochemical company in Indonesia.
Our plant is strategically located
in Ciwandan, Cilegon, Banten
province, providing convenient
access to our key customers.
Further exploiting our geographical
advantage, we have installed and
are currently operating a 45 km
distribution pipeline which connects
our petrochemical complex to
customers within the area.
In late 2015, we successfully
completed the expansion of
Naphtha Cracker production
capacity to 860KTA from 600KTA
or by some 43%. The new capacity
will establish higher economies of
scale and expand product offerings.
It is a manifestation of our strategic
plans to expand out business and
further integrate our downstream
processes.
Currently, we incorporate state-of-
the-art technologies and supporting
facilities to produce 1,330KTA of
Olefins (Ethylene, Propylene),
Py-Gas and Mixed C4; and 816KTA
of Polyolefins (Polyethylene and
Polypropylene). Our production
facilities include two lines for
Polyethylene products and three
lines for Polypropylene products.
Our subsidiary, PT Styrindo Mono
Indonesia (SMI), produces 340KTA
of Styrene Monomer, which first
started in 1992. Until today, SMI
remains the sole Styrene Monomer
producer in Indonesia.
Since 2013, another subsidiary,
PT Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia
(PBI) operates the only Butadiene
plant in Indonesia that produces
Butadiene. The 137KTA Butadiene
plant consumes Mixed C4 produced
from our Olefins plant as its
raw materials.
Furthermore, the output product
from Butadiene plant is used as
feedstock for our future Synthetic
Rubber manufacturer that produces
raw material for environmental
friendly tires.
This Synthetic Rubber company is
a joint venture with a multinational
tire producer, Compagnie Financière
du Groupe Michelin (Michelin) as a
strategic partner. This joint venture
reflects our objective in capturing
the added value of our petrochemical
products chain.

Our Olefins plant is licensed by world renowned Lummus and KBR Technology. Our Naphtha Cracker mainly uses Naphtha and is capable of consuming alternative feedstocks such as LPG and Condensate to produce Ethylene, Propylene, Py-Gas and Mixed C4.
POLYETHYLENE (PE) PLANT
Our 336KTA Polyethylene plants utilize two world-class technologies. One PE production line with capacity of 200KTA is licensed by Univation Technologies, a joint venture of ExxonMobil Chemical Company and The Dow Chemical Company, (originally was licensed by Union Carbide Corporation, UNIPOL) and are capable of producing both linear-low and high density Polyethylene resins.
The second PE production line has a capacity of 136KTA and is licensed by Showa Denko KK which boasts Japan’s bimodal high density Polyethylene technology.
In 2018, we have commenced the groundbreaking of a new Polyethylene plant with 400KTA capacity which completion is scheduled by the end of 2019. This new plant will bring our total PE production to 736KTA. POLYPROPYLENE (PP) PLANT
Our 480KTA Polypropylene plants are licensed by W. R. Grace & Co. (originally was licensed by Union Carbide Corporation, UNIPOL) and are capable of producing a variety of Polypropylene resins including Homopolymer, Random Copolymer and Impact (Block) Copolymer. In fourth quarter of 2019, our PP plant will increase its capacity to 590KTA from its current capacity, 480KTA.
SMI operates 340KTA plants using both Mobil-Badger Technology and Lummus Technology. SMI is ideally positioned to meet the demand of local and regional downstream industries. SMI had also acquired majority ownership of PT Redeco Petrolin Utama (RPU) in 2012. RPU was established in 1980 and is engaged as an intermediate bulk-storage tank terminal and jetty management services for chemical products. RPU is also handling refined petroleum products for local and international oil companies.

We operate three jetties: Jetty A with capacity to berth 80,000DWT
vessels and serves Naphtha, LP Propylene and Py-Gas. Jetty B with
capacity to berth 6,000DWT vessels and is designated to serve HP
Propylene, LPG, as well as Naphtha. Jetty C with capacity to berth
10,000DWT vessels and is used for Ethylene, Py-Gas, Raffinate-1,
Butadiene, Naphtha and PFO.

FACILITIES
In supporting our business operations, we own on-site warehouses next to
PE & PP plants, and satellite warehouses in Surabaya and Solo.
Other on-site supporting utilities include gas turbine generator, steam turbine
generator, boiler, water treatment facility, water cooling system, fire fighting
system, and tank farms for feedstock and products.
PBI operates a 137KTA plant licensed by Lummus/BASF Technology. This plant consumes Mixed C4 from our Naphtha Cracker to produce high quality Butadiene and Raffinate-1. Butadiene is a critical feedstock to produce synthetic rubber which is one of the raw materials for tires production.

FACILITIES
To better serve the country’s growing petrochemical
demand, CAP plans to build second integrated
petrochemical complex in Indonesia through its
wholly owned subsidiary, PT Chandra Asri Perkasa
(CAP2). We’ve secured the technology from world-
class licensors to reinforcing the plan to expand our
petrochemical footprint; CB&I’s Lummus Technology
for Naphtha Cracker and Butadiene plant; GTC
Technology for aromatics (benzene, toluene and
xylenes) recovery plant;
Texplore for High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plant; and
Lyondellbasell, for Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and
Polypropylene (PP) plants.
The second complex is expected to comprise 1.1 MMTA
Ethylene, 600 KTA Propylene, 160 KTA Butadiene, 335
KTA Benzene, 450 KTA HDPE, 300 KTA LDPE and 450
KTA PP for full year of operations. CAP2 expects the final
investment decision to be made in early 2020 while the
commercial operation is planned to start in early 2024.
The plant’s total production annually is expected to reach
120KT, and its production begin in the end of August 2018. SRI
produces Polybutadiene Rubber with Neodymium Catalyst
and Solution Styrene Butadiene Rubber; both are utilized as
for the production of the environmentally friendly tires.
PT Synthetic Rubber Indonesia (SRI) is a joint
venture between Michelin and CAP. Located in Banten
Province, SRI is the first plant of its kind in Indonesia
to produce the feedstock of environmentally-friendly
tire using Michelin’s proprietary technology.

PROPYLENE
Ethylene is the most widely used
organic chemical in the world.
Ethylene produced from our
facility is mainly used to produce
Polyethylene and Styrene Monomer.
The remaining is sold domestically
through pipeline and to spot market.
Propylene is used as raw material to
produce Polypropylene. Propylene is
directly supplied to PP plant complex
through pipeline.
ETHYLENE
Our Polyethylene and Polypropylene products are certified
Halal by Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI).
POLYETHYLENE
Our Polyethylene resin is sold under the trademark brand
Asrene® which covers High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) products.
We also produce resin used for environmental friendly
shopping bags under the trademark Grene®. Grene®
shopping bags decompose naturally in the presence of
ultraviolet light. Other end-product applications include
agriculture film, flexible packaging, fishnets, tarpaulin, clean
water pipe, jerry cans, cosmetics and food grade bottles.
POLYPROPYLENE
Our Polypropylene resin is sold under the trademark brand
Trilene® which includes the various types of Homopolymer,
Random Copolymer and Impact (Block) Copolymer. Some
end-product applications include flexible packaging (IPP,
BOPP, CPP), household appliances, yarn, non-woven bags,
furniture, automotive and electronic parts.

PRODUCTS
Butadiene is a raw material used in the production of ABS,
SBL, SBR and PBR which are the main raw materials to
produce tires. Some end-product applications include rubber
boots, rubber gloves, shoe soles, adhesive and sealants.
Styrene Monomer is a raw material used to produce
Polystyrene (PS), Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), Styrene
Acrylonitrile (SAN), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS),
Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR), Styrene Butadiene Latex
(SBL) and Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR). Some
end-product applications include shoe soles, drinking
cups, food containers, automotive and electronic parts,
building block toys and helmets.

Due to the versatility of plastics, they have become
an essential ingredient to provide better quality of life.
However, the global use of plastic bags has become
uncontrollable; over 1 million plastic bags usage
per minute all over the world. One of our efforts in
contributing to solving environmental problems is
to focus on plastic waste; we develop and produce
eco-friendly plastic namely Asrene® SF5008E under
the trademark name of Grene®.
Grene® degradable plastic resins are designed to
be “fit for purpose”; they achieve their functional
competency prior to degradation after disposal.
It can be manufactured into plastic materials which
will bio-degrade in a much shorter period than
ordinary plastic. The plastic will oxidize before it
breaks down into carbon dioxide, water and
biomass, in which all will return to nature. One
method to start the degradation process is
through exposure to UV light.
It takes approximately 2 years for Grene® to completely
degrade whereas conventional plastic takes 1000 years
to degrade. Grene® provides shorter degradation
for longer survival of the earth.
Indonesia’s First Ecolabel
Degradable Plastic
Grene® accelerates the cycle of renewable natural
resources for environmental sustainability.
In comparison to conventional plastic, Grene®
results in 70% less energy usage, 80% less
waste and 50% less pollutant.
There is no difference in terms of strength and other
applications between Grene® and conventional
plastic. Grene® does not contain toxic or heavy
metals and is safe for direct food contact. It is used
for a wide variety of plastic packaging applications
such as shopping bags, compost bags, disposal
bags, bags on roll, etc. Furthermore, this eco-friendly
plastic allows, not only enviromental, but also
ecological, economical and social aspect to
have better standard of living.
Through Grene®, we become the first degradable
plastic manufacturer in Indonesia to earn the
Ecolabel Certificate from the Ministry of
Environment after passing through test by the
appointed credible institution. Grene® also
received Product Excellence Award (Gold)
during the 6th Annual Global Corporate Social
Responsibility Summit & Awards in 2014.

Our PE resins are sold under the trademark brand

for our customers.
Asrene® product line-up consists of HDPE which has
stiff property and LLDPE which has flexible property.
In addition, we also produce degradable HDPE film
