Cruise Industry NewsHere we are with the whole of the year ahead of us and the cruise lines are working harder than ever to attract you to their cruise ships. You can see below that despite being in a recession cruises are out performing other areas of the holiday sector as they are the best all in one value for money holiday. The cruise lines recognise this and are constantly evolving with new innovations, changes and ship launches. During 2010 we are looking forward to 7 ship launches including: P&O Azura, MSC Magnifica, NCL Epic, Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam, Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas, Celebrity Eclipse and Cunard Queen Elizabeth.

UK Cruising – Both Little and Large Style – Set to break Records in 2010As a country we may still be technically in recession, but the cruise industry is reaping the rewards of offering variety and value as more and more people opt for a cruise holiday in the new “Tens” decade about to open.

This is the bold forecast of the industry body representing some 38 cruise companies operating in the UK and is made by Passenger Shipping Association on the day (November 30) the largest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas, is officially named at a global launch ceremony in Florida. “We predict a record 1.65m UK passengers will choose a cruise in 2010, an increase of 6.5% over 2009. We put this down to the two “V”s – value and variety” said Bill Gibbons, PSA director. “You can now choose to join a cruise with just 49 fellow passengers around the Scottish Highlands on the delightful Hebridean Princess, or 6,000 others in the Caribbean on the awesome Oasis of the Seas, or indeed numerous other ships that offer exceptional quality and exciting destinations throughout the world. Meals, accommodation and entertainment are included in the price which can be neatly hedged by UK consumers paying in sterling. You not only can visit many vibrant ports and enjoy every activity under the sun, but also meet so many different people and cultures, making cruising such a satisfying experience.” The 2010 decade will start with no fewer than 16 new ships, of all sizes, set to launch within the first twelve months, and those dedicated to the UK market include P&O Cruises’ Azura, Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth and Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Eclipse.

P&O Cruises is bucking the industry trend towards ever larger vessels by introducing a ship to its fleet that will accommodate just 710 passengers and will be able to visit the “off the beaten track” destinations that are inaccessible to some of the bigger ships of today.

The new ship will be named Adonia and will join the fleet in May 2011, to become the smallest of P&O Cruises seven ships. Along with Arcadia she will be an adult only ship.

More than three-quarters of her 355 well-appointed cabins have balconies and Adonia’s public rooms will have a traditional feel and feature wood panelling, leather armchairs and fine artwork. She will have an extensive library with over 4,000 titles and a grand lounge with an intricately inlaid wooden dance floor and stage to host a range of entertainment, from after dinner speakers to shows by P&O Cruises Headliners Theatre Company.

Adonia will also have the signature P&O Cruises features of a forward Crow’s Nest observation lounge with a nautical feel, and Anderson’s, a centrally located traditional club style lounge bar. P&O Cruises managing director, Carol Marlow said:

“I am delighted to announce this great news in response to our passengers’ comments to me that some prefer smaller ships. The addition of Adonia will deliver an elegant and welcoming ship with real small ship charm. She will offer a truly intimate and traditional cruise experience,

Small is beautiful for P&O Cruises as it announces another addition to the fleet

yet with all the comforts you would expect from a modern vessel. With this size of ship our passengers will be able to get to know their fellow cruisers and crew easily as they travel to some of the most intriguing destinations on the map.

“Whilst larger ships have their own appeal, with the spectrum of bars, dining and entertainment choices they can offer, others really enjoy a smaller ship, with its more intimate ambience. No other cruise line offers this breadth of choice specifically for the British cruiser.”Adonia’s itineraries and fares will be announced in Spring 2010. For more information call your Jetline Cruise Specialist now to pre register.

Azamara Cruises – the two-ship brand launched in 2007 with the 694-guest Azamara Journey and sister ship Azamara Quest – has become “Azamara Club Cruises,” with a newly refined focus, and a series of new attributes designed for upmarket, experienced travellers.

“This isn’t a strategy of going ‘from good to great’,” said Azamara Club Cruises President & CEO Larry Pimentel.

“This is about taking an already great product and making it exceptional.”Tapped to take the helm of Azamara Cruises in July of this year, Pimentel spent several weeks talking with travel agents, past guests and press to determine how to make his great-to-exceptional goal a reality. He also tapped a small new team focused 100 percent on Azamara, including VP of Sales & Marketing Edie Bornstein, AVP of Hotel Operations

Bert Van Middendorp, Director of Marketing Signe Bjorndal, Director of National Accounts Michelle Nevin, and an eight-member field sales team dedicated solely to Azamara.

Together, Pimentel and team shaped the new Azamara Club Cruises, whose most distinguishing new attributes will be in effect by April 2010.

“Today’s cruisers have incredible new vacation options – like Celebrity’s stunning Solstice Class, and Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas,” said Pimentel. “Azamara Club Cruises will distinguish itself by delivering the destination like no other line.”

Azamara Club Cruises will visit 140 ports in 50 countries in 2010, with itineraries featuring more overnight stays to allow guests to immerse themselves in communities and cultures. Among the overnight locations are Istanbul, Turkey; Sorrento, Italy, which offers a host of tour options along the

Azamara Cruises Becomes “Azamara Club Cruises”Amalfi Coast and Capri; a full three days and two nights in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Azamara’s Scandinavia and Russia Itineraries; and multiple overnight stays in Azamara’s Southeast Asia region, including Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Azamara has created distinctive two-day packages tailored to the overnight destinations, to make it easy for guests to immerse themselves in each location, whether it’s Dubrovnik, Croatia; Odessa, Ukraine; Livorno (Florence), Italy, Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany, or London, in addition to Sorrento and St. Petersburg.

Azamara also will offer experiences such as a two-night package from Bangkok to Laos; an overnight tour from Hiroshima to Osaka via bullet train; a three-night experience from Mumbai including a visit to the Taj Mahal; overnight tours in Israel between Ashdod and Cairo, and a Grand Egypt tour featuring the best of both Luxor and Cairo.

Among Azamara’s specialty tours include a Ferrari driving tour in Civitavecchia, Italy; a walk down memory lane in Liverpool with the “In the steps of The Beatles” tour; a private demonstration of chocolate flavors in Dubrovnik; a “Theatre A La Carte” evening in London; Croatian liqueur tasting in Zadar; an Imperial Russian Court evening at Tsarskoye Selo in St. Petersburg; an evening gondola serenade in Venice; and high tea at the Burj al Arab Hotel in Dubai.

FINDING THE BEST SAVINGSWe believe we have done all of the hard work for you already. All of the offers featured in our magazine are priced lower than what is offered directly from the cruise lines using our special Jetline discount. For a number of offers we have enhanced the cruise with a land based stay to offer a unique all round holiday experience at surprisingly low prices. Our offers are also compared with similar cruises available with other cruises lines and then chosen for a combination

of being a lower price, better itinerary and / or a more popular ship. Cruise prices fluctuate constantly dependent upon demand, availability, fuel costs and airline fares. Our prices are based on the best deals of the day that we can find. What is available today could have gone up in price tomorrow. It may be a cliché but – if you see something you like - book it now. In 2009 we have experienced unprecedented demand for our best selling offers - the cruise lines and airlines then respond to this by putting prices up.

GUARANTEE CABINSIf you are flexible and not fussy about cabin numbers and locations – you can pay a low price and possibly end up with a high grade of cabin. For flexibility many cruise lines from time to time offer special promotional prices based on a non specific grade of cabin. These are referred to as guarantee cabins which do not have a specific cabin number, location or deck at the time of booking. These cabins are usually considerably cheaper than the lowest priced cabins with a specific location on the ship and deck number. Look out for interior, ocean view and balcony guarantee cabins at the time of booking. The cruise line will then allocate a specific cabin

number at the time the cruise documents are issued shortly before your cruise. Lots of cruisers usually end up with a higher grade of cabin than they would have otherwise had.

THE BEST TIME TO BOOKEarly Booking Offers. When a brochure or new campaign is launched it is usually packed with some great early booking offers – such as free car parking, special discounts and on board credit. These are ideal if you have specific requirements for your cabin grade, cabin location & cruise itinerary (if it is an unusual one). If you are looking to book a family of three or four in one cabin during school holidays - book early to avoid disappointment. Early booking offers are usually for cruises departing 6 months or more in the future. Many cruise lines launched their new campaigns at the start of December ready to sell in January and February. Take a look at some unbeatable Summer early booking offers for NCL Gem, MSC, RCI Jewel, Cunard Queen Victoria and RCI Adventurer with 7 night Med cruises starting from only £649pp. In short - book early if you like something to look forward to and have specific requirements.

As you can imagine – being at the forefront of the cruise industry for the past 10 years we have built

up considerable experience in pin pointing the best cruise offers in an extremely competitive market.

Here are some great ways of finding the right cruise at the best price with ideas on how to save money

along the way and hopefully bust your budget.

Late OffersIn our experience the best late booking offers are usually brought out by the cruise lines 12- 4 weeks before departure. We have lots of budget busting offers for February and March. As prices and availability are so volatile for this late sales period - please call us for the best deals of the day for Caribbean, Canaries and Winter Med cruises. In short - for a late deal BE FLEXIBLE and you will end up with a bargain.

speciaL Offers / excLusivesThese can be at anytime of the year and are usually where we have found some really low cruise and flight prices to make desirable cruise holidays. Check out our Cruise and stay holidays on the Queen Mary 2, Las Vegas & Hawaii, RCI Far East cruises and the Maiden Voyage on NCL Epic. In short if you see something you like – GRAB IT as it won’t be around for long at that price..

ON BOarD creDit OffersThis January there are lots of offers with on board spending money for things like - drinks, speciality restaurants, purchases on board and excursions. This helps to cut the cost of your overall holiday and means that you need less spending money. Take at look at the impressive on board credit offers for NCL, Royal Caribbean, Cunard Queen Victoria and P&O.

free caBiN upGraDe OffersLook out for FREE cabin upgrade offers to help you save even more money. Cunard Queen Mary 2 has a number of departures where there is a free upgrade from an ocean view cabin to one with a private balcony. Plus there are free cabin upgrades available on Celebrity Equinox, NCL and Holland America.

fLY cruisesAll of our cruises departing from ports overseas include flights from London. London airports such as Heathrow and Gatwick are the main hub for the international routes of most airlines. As a result airfares from London tend to be much lower than those from regional airports. These can be lower still if flying indirectly via the airlines main hub in the USA – such as flying via New York to Florida. This is perfect if you want to avoid the immigration queues at Miami and if you want to add on extra nights and visit the local area before continuing your flight.

For our members who live further away from London we are experienced in finding the best flight arrangements from your local airports at the lowest possible supplement. This may be by booking the full flight itinerary from your local airport, but usually the cheaper option is to simply add on a separate low cost flight to connect to the flight itinerary from London. If you are flexible then big savings can be made – for example using Easyjet from Liverpool instead of a BA flight from Manchester or using Flybe from Belfast to Southampton.

airLiNe LuGGaGe aLLOWaNcesQuite often many people come home with more luggage than what they went with. This can have costly consequences if you exceed your airline luggage allowances. Therefore we would recommend you understand what these are before you travel. It is always much cheaper to pre-book excess luggage before you travel than by paying

higher charges at the check in desk. Another way of overcoming this is to look out for our cruise holidays with no flights or ones where cruises sail back to the UK such as some of our MSC, Cunard Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria offers.

taxi raNK v preBOOKeD traNsferSome of our lowest prices are achieved by sourcing airfares and hotels separately from the cruise fare. Savings of hundreds of pounds per person are made over the cost of the full package direct from the cruise line. The only tangible difference being that you have to make your own way in a taxi between the airport, hotel and port. We can pre-book transfers for you but these cost two or three times more than simply hailing a cab from the taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. Pre-booked transfers also take much longer - having to identify where the transfer desk is, waiting for transportation to become available, waiting for other passengers to join you and making a circuitous route if travelling to or from a hotel. Plus by travelling in a private taxi you can beat the queues and get there before the transfer coaches.

airpOrt & pOrt car parKiNGSave money by taking advantage of one of our FREE port car parking offers with Royal Caribbean, MSC and P&O. If not we can pre book your port or airport car park and this will usually save from £3-£6 per day instead of simply turning up on the day.

Look out for free cabin upgrades. Here is a deluxe balcony cabin aboard Queen Mary 2

Dubrovnik, a city in Croatia, is also a popular stop on eastern Mediterranean cruises. It is a city that has been around from the 13th century and because it’s located in the southern region of Croatia, Dubrovnik has a gorgeous, sunny climate. The arts, culture, summer festivals, and museums are some of the great reasons to visit Dubrovnik

and residents of this amazing city often refer to it as the ‘jewel of the Adriatic.’ It is a popular stop on eastern Mediterranean cruises because of its ancient architecture much of which dates back to the 13th century.

Top 10 things to do onboardPart 1

Page 11: Jetline Cruise - Cruise Ahoy - January 2010 Edition

To book call: 0800 923 1601 11

This is the first in a series of 3 articles in which we feature a couple of essential top 10 lists over the

coming months. This first one is a rather cheeky look at things to do on board to get your taste buds

going. These are written with tongue in cheek and present things for you to have a laugh at or to do

on board that you may not have though of or have thought of but have never said!

1 Attend the sailaway parties with a camera! Many people miss out on this as they are busy acquainting themselves with the ship, unpacking and getting ready for dinner on the first night. Definitely leave these things till later. This is a great way to check out your fellow cruisers, spot the likely characters of the cruise and meet people. Ask them to take a picture of you and offer to take pictures for others. As the band strikes up and the party atmosphere gets going - try out the cocktail of the day. Sail away photos can be very picturesque with the wake of the ship and the setting sun plus they are a good measure of what you looked like at the start of the cruise!!!

2 Have a Pre-breakfast in bed every morningThis is an absolute luxury and a great way to wake up in the morning. Fill out your room service card before you go to bed at night and hang it outside your door (room service is usually at no extra cost). Even if you plan to have breakfast in one of the main restaurants – perhaps just order a cup of tea. As we all know there is nothing like a cup of tea in bed!

3 Make use of the spaYou don’t have to book treatments to use the facilities of the spa but there is usually an entrance charge. Instead of booking daily you can book a spa pass for the length of your cruise to save money on the daily entrance fee. As the entrance fee keeps the crowds away - it is usually a quiet relaxing place. This is well worth it particularly if you want a tranquil wallow in the thermal pool, read a book or maybe do suduko in peace & quite on a lounger in a fluffy bathrobe. Perhaps use the sauna, steam room or have one of those invigorating showers.

4 Have a cocktail at sunset in a hot tubAhhh - Only on a cruise!!! As your fellow cruisers are running off back to their cabins to get ready for dinner - chill out and head for the hot tub by the pool instead. Try out another of those cocktails of the day and watch the sunset for a relaxed start to an unhurried evening.

5 Try out every bar! This can be fun as an unofficial bar crawl. On many ships it is a challenge with up to 20 bars onboard. This is for a bit of lively entertainment in the evening if you don’t fancy the show - plus you have not got far to go home !!!

6 Have formal photo’s taken! This is great for filling up spare moments during the cruise and can be rather hilarious. Photographers around the ship will offer to take your picture before dinner when you are dressed in your finery with no obligation to buy. There are usually an ever changing variety of back drops

to choose from - a fake New York city skyline or Titanic grand staircase or huge picture of the ship to an ornate flower display or simply a white canvas. This then gives you an excuse to seek out your picture in the photo gallery (or rogues gallery as we call it). In so doing you can see everyone else’s picture which is a great talking point. You might spot who is travelling who and have a giggle some pictures that have not turned out quite right. Play spot the bad ones - perhaps a grimace at the wrong time or the top of a palm tree sticking out of someone’s head from the back drop behind.

7 Have Breakfast & Lunch in the Main RestaurantMany people prefer to limit the formality of the main restaurant to dinner only - choosing to have breakfast and lunch in the casual buffet restaurants and cafes. Because of this the main restaurants are not as busy as they normally are for Dinner and the atmosphere is surprisingly tranquil. During breakfast and lunch the main restaurants have open seating where breakfast is cooked to order and the choice of menu at lunch time is excellent.

8 Gatecrash Cocktail PartiesThis one is a bit naughty – but if you have ever attended a cocktail party on board ask yourself: ”How many times have you been asked to see your invitation?”

9 Try out any Free alternative dining venues at nightThe cruise lines are keen to encourage you to try out their alternative dining venues for dinner instead of the main restaurant. Quite often there is a charge for these of around $20 - $30 per person. It is well worth trying them out particularly if you have received bonus on board credit. If there is a steakhouse or Asian restaurant on board – definitely go for it. However – there are also FREE alternative evening dining options on many cruise lines which they do not generally advertise. Cruise lines such as Cunard and Celebrity usually convert a part of the self service buffet restaurant in the evening to waiter service with set tables, tablecloths and menus. These are very good and give you even more variety to your evening meal choices on board.

10 Attend the nightclub on the 2nd night and the penultimate night of the cruiseMost people are too tired to go the nightclub on the first night of the cruise. But lots are tempted to explore the atmosphere on the 2nd night – however if it’s quiet many do not return. Therefore take the opportunity to be a night owl for once, put your dancing shoes on and let your

hair down. By this time of the night people are much more relaxed and it’s a great way to make friends. Similarly on the last night of the cruise the nightclub tends to be virtually empty as everyone has packed and are getting ready to depart early the following morning. So the penultimate night of the cruise is when things really get going – inhibitions are thrown aside, the dad dancing is hilarious, requests for popular tunes are in abundance and it’s the prefect way to celebrate an enjoyable cruise.

This months edition we are pleased to introduce another two valued members of our team – Hollie Waterman and Richard Robson. Below you can find out a little more about them.

Hi my name is Hollie and I’m another new member of the Jetline team!

I first started working in travel for a company called ‘Villas to go’ and

worked there for nearly 5 years before I was made redundant. I went on

to work as a recruitment consultant for Manpower before I got offered a

job working with Jetline Cruise. I knew I wanted to work in travel again as

I had enjoyed it so much before.

I was a bit concerned about changing jobs during these difficult times

until I went to see a clairvoyant on the day I got offered the job and she

told me that she thought I would be starting a new job very soon and that

she kept seeing the image of a cruise ship! Whether you’re a sceptic or

not you have to admit that is quite a coincidence!

Working for Jetline has been a real eye opener as I have not been on a

cruise before. We recently went to Southampton to visit Independence of

the Seas and after seeing her I think from now on every holiday I take will

be a cruise! I am hoping to book a cruise on Oasis of the Seas which is

the new Royal Caribbean ship launched this month - our Cruise Director

Ian recently went on the ship and said it is fantastic.

Now the rush of Christmas is over and we all need a nice

holiday to look forward to. I hope to be speaking to you and

booking your perfect cruise.

Hollie

Hello, my name is Richard and I am a new addition to the Jetline

Cruise team.

Previously I have worked in the cruise industry for a shore handling

company in the UK and Barcelona, working with ships such as Cunard,

Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, NCL and Carnival. I have been

onboard the major cruise ships numerous times, and we have recently

been down to visit the Queen Victoria in Southampton. Although I

have seen it many times it was good to revisit the ship and share my

knowledge with the rest of the call centre as some of the girls had not

been on a Cunard ship before. I also enjoyed sharing information with the

team, in regards to comparing Cunard to the many other cruise lines

out there.

I am also lucky enough to know the entire embarkation and

disembarkation process in the UK and Barcelona, so I can answer any

questions you have with firsthand experience.

I have been with Jetline Cruise for 2 months now and I am really enjoying

myself. The best part for me is creating the perfect holiday with the best

price and making you the customer happy.

I am really looking forward to speaking to you in the near

future and helping you book the perfect holiday!

Holland america lines “Signature of Excellence” really sets them apart from other 5* star premium cruise lines. Their modern fleet of ships have wrap around teak decks, fewer guest on board for more space, an aft pool deck for wonderful sail away vistas, plus tasteful decorations with works of art and fresh flowers throughout. This company oozes service, quality and style – aimed at the more select and discerning cruiser. They also have some of the best spas at sea with a wonderful hydro therapy pool and relaxing thermal suite. There is also a theatre, casino, numerous bars, crows Nest lounge, Explorations café, children’s clubs and more.

Combine all these wonderful onboard amenities with a 7 night cruise on board Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam to visit the natural beauty of the Alaskan coastline and wilderness. View the magnificent glaciers, perhaps spot a whale breaking the surface, relive the gold rush days of the Klondyke and be at one with the unspoilt natural charm of this area. *Ask our sales consultants for prices on higher I grade interior cabins and receive a FREE cabin upgrade to GG grade outside cabins (obstructed view).

It seems that many cruise lines have decided to base their ships for Alaskan cruises out of Seattle. The Zuiderdam is one the few operating from Vancouver. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the Canadian Rockies – our add on package from £249pp includes an extra two days in Vancouver and a day train tour to Whistler and back. Alternatively ask our cruise consultants about longer add on options to Calgary, Banff and even Toronto and Niagara Falls!

NO FLYING: Combine both itineraries together giving you the day to shop and sightsee in New York without flying.

there is Macy’s Dept Store just down the road from the Empire State Building and great for lunch!

tHE SIGHtSEEING: There is so much to see in such a short space of time. We would recommend to use the subway & cover larger distances; an 8 journey card costs just $10 (1 journey could be the whole length of Manhattan or simply a 1 station hop). The following are Must Do: Central Park including the Bethesda Fountain & Strawberry Fields memorial. Have a look at the magnificent interior of Grand Central station. Hop on the subway down to 14th St Union Sq to visit the Flatiron building, then carry on down to the Ground Zero site and Wall Street. Visit Battery Park at the Southern tip of Manhattan and take some photos of the Statue of Liberty. If you have time - hop on a boat tour via the Statue of Liberty to the museum on Ellis Island. Take the blue AC subway over to Brooklyn and walk back to Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge for some incredible photos of the Manhattan Skyline. Visit the Empire State Building at sunset for magnificent views across the city as the lights twinkle on. Finally visit Times Square at night before seeing a show on Broadway.

tHE SHOPPING: There is no better place to shop than in New York. Prices when converted to £Sterling are much cheaper in the US and there are lots of great stores selling goods which you would not find over here. A pair of trendy Levis would cost on average in the UK around £60 - go to the Levis store on Lexington Ave (opposite Bloomingdales) and you get the pick or every size colour and style imaginable for $50 or £31.

Head for 5th Ave and visit Tiffany’s, the huge underground Apple Mac I-pod store, Abercrombie & Fitch and a host of designer stores nearby. For the budget conscious Old Navy on 34th St opposite Macy’s is a must – I can guarantee you will buy at least a t-shirt there. Then of course

The sunset bar is a particularly great place for a cocktail to bid farewell to your last port of call.

See more exotic and further flung ports of call in the Mediterranean on these fly cruise special offers instead of cruising from the UK. The balcony prices on this cruise are highly recommended for huge savings plus a FREE balcony cabin category upgrade. The Voyager class ships where revolutionary for their size and amazing variety of things to do on board. These 5 sister ships paved the way for the big selling ships of today such as Independence and oasis of the Seas. The Adventure of the Seas was the third Voyager class ship to be built and 2010 is the first year she will be based in Europe away from her home port in the Caribbean.

Adventure of the Seas

The things we love about this ship are: the Royal Promenade mall area where there is a lovely FREE coffee shop / patisserie to sit and watch the world go by or the Dog & Duck British Pub to make you feel at home. The Schooner Bar is a trade mark on the Royal Caribbean ships and attracts a busy crowd. The kids clubs on board and video games arcade are second to none and the adults only atrium pool is excellent. This unusual 7 night itinerary is one of the few which starts from Malaga and gives those of you who would fly from regional airports better direct flight connections.

Not only is this our best selling cruise it is also one of our favourite cruise itineraries in the Mediterranean cruising from our favourite port. A short flight takes you to romantic and extremely picturesque Venice; which has one of the best city sailaways in the Med - as the ship glides past Saint Marks Square on its way out to sea. This mixed with the charm and varied beauty of the Greek islands makes a perfect Summer cruise. We always feel it is a shame to sail from Venice and not actually stay there; so with this offer we have included an overnight hotel stay.

We have chosen 3 star hotels close to Saint Marks Square that are within easy strolling distance of all the historical sights and the Rialto Bridge. This area is also well connected by the relatively inexpensive water bus which also operates a service to the cruise terminal.

ForT LAUDErDALE: This is a great alternative to Miami and is known as the Venice of America where the rich and beautiful live with boats moored at the bottom of their tropical gardens. The beach here is white sand stretching as far as the eye can see making the perfect base to explore Fort Lauderdale and it is not far from the port.

Shopping is far better here than in Miami. Las Olas Boulevard is the main shopping thoroughfare with boutique style shops, some great bars and restaurants. We recommend the Floridian for sassy diner style breakfast and lunches. The most central shopping Mall is the upmarket La Galleria. This has a Macys, Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic and Pottery Barn among others. The Coral Ridge Mall is well worth a visit for a home wares (Super Target ) and Old Navy the trendy discount clothing arm of GAP. For the largest mall we have ever seen try the Sawgrass Mill about 40 minutes drive from the beach west towards the Everglades. Add on extra nights from £59pp per night.

We have chosen this itinerary as it represents several holidays in one and gives you the opportunity to visit Florida, shop in New York and explore the Azores which does not feature very often on a cruise itinerary. This MSC Poesia cruise from Florida to Dover also has the added benefit of ending in Dover back home to familiar shores. The great thing about this cruise is you can enjoy your holiday more and shop like crazy; with no overnight flight home there are no luggage and weight restrictions.

The 90,000 tonne MSC Poesia is only a year old and having sailed on this ship we were impressed with the range of facilities and the intriguing décor. The MSC Poesia seems to flow very well in so far that it is easy to find your way around with one area leading to another. Her facilities include: 2 swimming pools, 4 whirlpools, 2 pool bars, Kids facilities and splash pool, 4 restaurants, sushi bar, wine bar, 2 large entertainment lounges, theatre, night club, casino, 5 further bars and more.

With FREE car parking and FREE kids places - these offers are unbeatable. We particularly like these itineraries as all three of include amsterdam which is sadly not included on many Northern Europe itineraries.

AmSTErDAm: The heart of Amsterdam is only a 5-10 minute walk from the cruise terminal. Amsterdam city centre is contained within a series of interconnected concentric canal rings and so its great to explore the city by boat. Whilst in Amsterdam you must visit the red light district (of course just for a topic of conversation on your cruise), Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum and the Magere Brug for an iconic shot of the double leaf Dutch draw bridge connecting both sides of the River Amstel.

For many forty somethings Hawaii initially conjures up images of Magnum PI and red Ferraris. For Fifty somethings Steve Garret and Hawaii Five O are frantically canoeing though the surf, whilst sixty somethings may think of Elvis in his film Blue Hawaii and Rockahula. Most though think of exotic Hula girls, Lei Garlands, swaying palms and magnificent sunsets. Perhaps visit Pearl Harbour and the Arizona monument and take a stroll along Waikiki beach on Oahu. Visit the pineapple plantations of Maui, the Wailua Falls and Nawiliwili harbour of Kauai and a Volcano adventure on the Big Island. Or simply have a Luau – an Hawaiian version of a BBQ but much more colourful and fun!

The Golden Princess is a modern American super liner at 109,000 tonnes and has just undergone refurbishment this spring. There are 4 swimming pools (1 covered), 9 whirlpools, spa with thermal suite, adults only outdoor Sanctuary, gym, 9 bars, theatre, nightclub, casino, great range of children’s facilities, internet café and more. There are 7 places to eat for a range of flexible dining options including the 24-hour buffet restaurant and anytime dining.

Don’t forget to ask for early disembarkation! or ask our sales team about spending extra nights in Los Angeles from only £35pp per night. This is a great opportunity to see the sights such as: Hollywood, beverley Hills, Rodeo Drive, Venice beach, Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre, Disneyland, knotts berry Farm and more.
