Serological PipettesA wide range of pipettes manufactured from crystal clear polystyrene. All pipettes up to 25ml areconstructed in a single piece, eliminating the problem of sample hang-up and so providing greateraccuracy (>98%). Each pipette has a colour coded plug for easy size identification. Graduations are fineand crisp, so easy to read with increased accuracy. The graduation also extends beyond the end of thescale to provide extra capacity when needed.

Pipettes are available sterile, either individually wrapped in fibre-free paper/plastic sleeves or in plastic packsof 25. They are gamma irradiated, non cytotoxic, non haemolytic & non pyrogenic. The standard pipettesare also available non-sterile, in bulk zip-lock bags. Available to purchase in pack or case quantities.

Corning, Serological PipettesA range of pipettes suitable for sterile tissue culture applications. Available in 2 styles of individualwrapping; paper/plastic wrap and all plastic wrap. The paper/plastic wrap is colour coded and allowseasy opening by either ‘pop-through’ or ‘peel-apart’ techniques. Corning, Plastic Centrifuge TubesCorning centrifuge tubes feature black printed graduations and a large white marking spot. They areavailable in 15ml and 50ml sizes and a choice of material, either polypropylene or polyethylene teraphtha-late. The 15ml tubes are conical and the 50ml tubes are available either conical bottom or self standing.

These tubes are available with your choice of cap style, the original plug seal or alternatively the flat toprim seal. Both of these provide a tight, secure seal.

All tubes are sterile and certified non-pyrogenic. They are available in racks or bulk packs.

Nalgene, MF75™ Series of Filter Units and Bottle Top FiltersThe MF75™ series of filter units (except 115ml) are designed with an easy to use shape, with taperedsides and ‘grip dimples’ for secure handling and a wide base for stability. The lot number, membranetype, pore size and expiration date are printed on filter units, bottle tops and receivers for easy identifi-cation and lot traceability. The housing is manufactured from polystyrene, with a choice of membranetypes and pore sizes. The 115ml filter units have low profile polystyrene housing and a wide base,providing the ideal unit for small volume benchtop filtration.

The units have colour coded filter collars for instant identification of the membrane type. Every lot iscertified sterile, non-pyrogenic and non-cytotoxic. Sterile shelf life is 5 years.

Nalgene, MF75™ Series CN Membrane Filter Units Cellulose nitrate (CN) is the standard membrane for general filtering of buffers and solutions. Colourcoded green.

The filter units have graduations on both uppers and receivers and the sidearm has a cellulosic vent plugand quick-disconnect tubing adaptor. Supplied with a leak-proof, threaded closure for the receiver.

Nalgene, MF75™ Series SFCA Membrane Filter Units and BottleTop FiltersSurfactant-free cellulose acetate (SFCA) is much cleaner than standard cellulose acetate. It is low proteinbinding with no wetting agents and excellent flow rates. It minimises clogging and prevents loss ofspecific proteins. Colour coded yellow.

The filter units have graduations on both uppers and receivers and the sidearm has a cellulosic vent plugand quick-disconnect tubing adaptor. Supplied with a leak-proof, threaded closure for the receiver. 673-285 and 673-286 are designed for the filtration of large volumes (over 200ml) of whole serum. The largemembrane surface provides excellent flow rates when filtering up to 500ml of whole fetal bovine serumor a lesser volume of other sera. 673-086 and 673-087 media-plus filter units allow easy vacuumfiltration of up to 1L of media with 20% serum.

The graduated bottle top filters are designed for direct filtration into sterile glass media bottles, screwingsecurely onto media bottles with 33 or 45mm necks. Only sterile bottles designed for use with vacuumshould be used. They have side-arms with quick-disconnect tubing adaptors.

Nalgene, MF75™ Series PES Membrane Filter Units and BottleTop FiltersPolyethersulfone (PES) is the ultimate cell and tissue culture media membrane, with low protein binding,low extractables, no external wetting agents and a fast flow. These are ideal for biological and pharma-ceutical sterilisation requirements. The 0.2µm filters are fitted with the new Supor® machV membranes.These are super clean membranes that provide even faster throughput and very low protein binding.Colour coded blue.

Wheaton, Modular Cell Production ApparatusThe Wheaton modular cell production apparatus allows large scale propagation of monolayer cellcultures in standard roller culture vessels, 108 to 121mm in diameter and up to 550mm long.

A powerful motor drives the bottles through a series of durable non-slip belts to exacting speeds from0.125 to 6.9 rpm (110mm bottles) with an accuracy of ±1%.

The base unit consists of the control housing, controls and motor. Additional 5-position decks can be mountedon the base to accommodate increased numbers of roller vessels. As a guideline, a base unit with 9 decks(max) will hold enough glass or plastic bottles to give a total surface area of up to 75000 cm2 for cell growth.

The front wheels are equipped with locking devices to ensure stability. The unit may be ordered completelyassembled or with base unit and decks separate for customer assembly. Supplied without bottles.

Dimensions of unit with roller deck is 760x620x350mm. Each additional deck increases height of unit by180mm. Electrics: 220/240V AC, 60 Hz, 35W.

The all-position drive model is a positive traction drive system for lightweight plastic bottles, where eachroller is individually driven. The Techne range of biological stirrers is suitable for suspension cell culture and for microcarriers.Uniform suspension of cell cultures and microcarrier beads is achieved by a gentle stirring action whichaids attachment and promotes circulation of the medium around the cells to encourage a high rate ofgrowth. Continuous stirring is adjustable up to 80rpm; the stirrers also incorporate fully variable intervalstirring, whereby ‘on’ times between 6 seconds and 5 minutes, and ‘off’ times between 2 minutes and2 hours can be selected.

Special SOFTSTART design ensures controlled acceleration of the stirrer rod to the selected speed, thusavoiding excessive turbulence within the medium on start-up and eliminating the risk of cell damage.

Type A stirrer platforms have a point source magnet for use with STEMpendulum type stirrers (use of other pendulum-type stirrers should beverified). Type B stirrer platform have a bar magnet for suspended-baror bar-type stirrer. AS635 and AS640 will accommodate both types dueto their size.
