Psalm 89:1-8• Psalm 89:6 For who in the heaven can be

compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

The “Lord of Hosts” depicts Yahweh as the mightiest of all warriors, who

commands all the Hosts of heaven and earth.

Also … the “Lord of Hosts” is the creator of all the hosts of the universe!

There are military overtones that signify that He is headship over all

I. Jehovah-Sabaoth speaks of God’s

leadership over all creation.

A. God is the head of all the hosts of Heaven

because He created them

Isaiah 45:11,12

B. God is Lord of Hosts because He has the

II. Jehovah-Sabaoth speaks of God’s

leadership over the armies of God!

A. The Lord of Hosts was the leader of Israel’s

armies and the mightiest of all warriors.

B. God is the leader of the armies of heaven.

C. The Lord of Hosts will bring low all who are

III. Jehovah-Sabaoth speaks of His willingness

to intervene to assist believers.

A. God is our refuge when troubles come – Ps. 46:7-11

B. The Lord of Hosts hears the cries of His people and

is ready to help – James 5:4 / Rom. 9:29

C. He is ever willing to help the hosts praise Him.
