Description

• A demonstration of the porous multiverse through a short example of the open agglomerate narrative setting

Page 3: JDB Final Presentation

Plan

• The goal of this project is to create a fully animated two-dimensional short by the end of SIP IV. • The short follows the path of an

explorer through the realm of what is impossible in reality, but possible in the imagination.

Page 4: JDB Final Presentation

Result

• Six archetypes in a single quest to explore endless destinations show how the multiverse can free up storytelling options.

Page 5: JDB Final Presentation

Archetype 1: The Explorer

• James Holwell is a British-Indian archeologist from 1890 AD. Holwell’s goal is to seek out the rarest destinations in existence. He needs someone to help him find the lost secrets.

Page 6: JDB Final Presentation

Archetype 2: The Adventurer

• Berenice Aventura is a treasure hunter from Wales, 2250 AD. Aventura’s agenda is to never run out of new paths to take. She needs someone to set new travel destinations.

Archetype 3: the Blender

• Kho'likh Ch'kunya is a Mongolian-Ayamara dimension blender from from 1000 B.C. Ch’kunya’s goal is to merge disparate universes to create an entirely unique one. He needs the travelers as samples to synthesize the new multiverse from.

Archetype 4: the Splitter

• Desejo Criacao Colheita Mundos is a Barbadian-Portuguese botanist from the Reinnaissance era. Dez’ goal is to build universes focused on a single trait, like a rainforest world. He needs to separate the travelers to separate the worlds.

Page 9: JDB Final Presentation

Archetype 5: the Savior Hero

• Lesotho Noatak is an Inuit-Se’sotho protector from the distant future. Lesotho’s goal is to preserve the two separate universes in the process of creating the new one. He wants to help the travelers build a new universe he can guard.

Archetype 6: the Lost Wanderer

• Eorfinnris Bayaka is an Icelandic-Mbenga from an advanced alternate past. Eorfinnris’ goal is to return to her family. She wants to help the travelers because she wants a family more like the travelers.

Page 11: JDB Final Presentation

Pitch• James Holwell, interdimensional

explorer, journeys to find his lost love, the adventurer Berenice Aventura. Aventura has her own agenda, but the two fall in love. Holwell wants to create an endless journey, so Aventura leads him to Ch'kunya, a dimension blender, who tells them their journey has not even started.

Page 12: JDB Final Presentation

Pitch• The travelers gather help to build the new

universe: Eorfinnris, the constant, keeps their bearings; Lesotho, the shield, keeps the current realm from being destroyed in the process; Aventura, the compass, guides them to the creation point; Holwell, the map, shows them where to go; and Ch'kunya, the multiplier, will stitch the travelers’ universes together. The plan changes when they meet De'ezesho, the splitter.

Page 13: JDB Final Presentation

Pitch• De'ezesho must break the team apart

if they are to forge new adventures. For De'ezesho and Ch'kunya, it means more universe-building resources; For Eorfinnris, it means a new family like the one she found in the team; for Lesotho, it means more worlds to save; but for Aventura and Holwell, it means they will lose each other.

Page 14: JDB Final Presentation

Pitch• Holwell wants to keep the adventurer he

tried so hard to get, but as much as Aventura loves the destination and Holwell, she loved the journey more. But as much as she loves wandering, she can't love exploration without loving the explorer who gave her a destination worthy of the journey. She tells him that if he really loves the adventurer, he will find her again. With that, the team begins the new journey.

Conclusion

• The porous multiverse setting is ready for stories that show the potential blends of disparate components from open travel between imaginative realms. • Calls for volunteer crew

positions will be posted by 10.11.2011.
