Start here, go anywhere! At JCC, you have the opportunity to start on the first two years toward a bachelor’s degree, with courses covering the same content as those at four-year universities. JCC’s courses transfer to any number of colleges and universities. JCC also accepts Advanced Placement (AP) credit.

Make sure you are taking the courses you need to meet yourgoals by meeting with an academic advisor. Share your plans for the future with your advisor so they may help you select the right courses. Contact Student Services at any JCC location to find an advisor.

JCC offers a variety of clubs, organizations, arts and music, service-learning and volunteer efforts, as well as intercollegiate sports. JCC offers students the opportunity to live on campus! Campus View 1 & 2 student housing is located just minutes from anywhere on campus – classes, dining, library and fieldhouse. Students will always be at home when living on campus. JCC courses can fit into the busy lifestyles of today’s students, who juggle school with work, family, friends and more. JCC offers convenience in both class times and delivery methods. There are day, evening, weekend and online courses, depending on your needs.

Guaranteed transferAgreements such as the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers articulation agreement, or MACRAO, make it easy to transfer 30 hours of general education requirements from JCC to many Michigancolleges and universities.

Meeting you where you areJCC offers courses on the Central Campus and North Campus in Jackson, as well as JCC @ LISD TECH in Adrian and the LeTarte Center in Hillsdale. JCC, partnered with Solo Aviation, offers flight courses at Reynolds Municipal Airport in Jackson.

Log on for learning Online courses may be completed when the time is right for you. Online courses cover the same material as traditional classroom sessions. You are offered lectures and activities without the normal time and space restrictions, while assignment deadlines still apply.

Course credits apply to distance learning just as they do to traditional college classes. Online courses will transfer to two- and four-year colleges, which makes completing your college goals a reality. Online learning is ideal for students who desire the added flexibility to set their own schedules.

Great beginning For students who want to pursue college course work but need additional help in reading, writing, mathematics and computer literacy, JCC offers foundation studies courses and a learning resource center, better known as the Center for Student Success.

JCC offers a variety of campus resources and services to help you succeed.

The Center for Student Success, located inBertWalkerHallonCentralCampus,offers tutoring, computer-aided instruction, accommodation services for students with special needs and learning support services.

Center for Student Success services are also available at our locations in Hillsdale and Adrian.

For those who want to go further and excel, JCC has a new Honors Leadership Program, designed to provide talented, academically motivated students with an enhanced educational college experience.

Student Services offers a one-stop location for many essential college services, admissions, registration, financial aid and more.

For students with children, JCC’s Central Campus offers a child care center, operated by ABC Academy.

College costs are significant, but students can save money on tuition at JCC. You will save thousands of dollars at the College, which will put you ahead financially when you transfer on to a larger university and ease your bank account today.

Financial aid, or funds to help with college expenses, comes from many sources. The U.S. Department of Education should be the first source to assess financial aid. Aid also comes from scholarships and grants from state governments, schools, employers, individuals, private companies, nonprofits, religious groups and professional organizations. •Tom McMillen-Oakley, assistant professor of art, is active in the local art scene and has had pieces entered in Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize competition, and the Gallery Project in Ann Arbor

•ProfessorMartha Petry was selected as a 2012 Faculty Scholar for Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society’s Faculty Scholar Conference and Honors Institute. In addition, Petry was named the 2012 Parnell Scholar, awarded to a new Phi Theta Kappa advisor who has never before been to an Annual Convention or Honors Institute and whose application was deemed outstanding by the selection committee.

• InstructorKimberly McKeown received the 2012 Michigan Campus Compact Faculty/ Staff Service-Learning Award for her efforts advancing service- learning on campus. McKeown teaches English and service learning courses and helps students in the Center for Student Success. She also oversees the Alternative Breaks Interest Group, or ABIG, a group of students interested in service-learning opportunities who spend their spring break completing a humanitarian “service” project.
