TODAY’S PROPOSAL

The JCAC Foundation Committee is proposing a non-profit, tax exempt foundation with 501c3 status. The proposed foundation:

Will allow JCAC to receive, invest, and distribute funds for charitable and educational purposes.

This foundation would be an entirely separate organization from the Chapter with a fully functional Board of Directors.

HOW DID WE GET HERE? There were previous discussions on possibly

purchasing a building where JCAC could hold chapter meetings and other activities.

This facility would also serve as a safe and central repository for the Chapter’s properties such as official documents, candles, robes, gavel, tablecloths and other effects which the Chapter may obtain for the orderly and proper conduct of ceremonies and business

A “Delta House” would provide the foundation the ability to strengthen and expand the programs of the JCAC.

A 501c3 designation would enable JCAC to raise funds to purchase or lease this structure.

PURPOSE The proposed foundation will serve as a

primary funding vehicle for scholarship and community service initiatives in association with JCAC.

Although the two organizations will work closely together, JCAC will have the ultimate responsibility for directing the initiatives that support the Sorority’s five-point programmatic thrust:

Economic Development Educational Development International Awareness and Involvement Physical and Mental Health Political Awareness and Involvement

WHAT’S IN A NAME…

Given the foundation will be an entirely separate organization from the Chapter, the name must be separate as well.

The name however, should, be transparent enough to let donors know there’s a correlation to the Chapter that reflect both a connection AND a distinction.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR JCAC? JCACES Foundation will benefit JCAC in

several ways:

Giving to our own foundation assures that the priorities WE set as an organization will be met

Setting financial goals will help us keep public service as the cornerstone of our organization

It will ultimately reduce the effort we must spend on planning fundraising events

Contributions will be tax-deductible

501c3 designation will aid us in our efforts to secure a home for JCAC!!!

It will allow us to expand our programmatic impact
