Joshua Redman

Growing up in the rural south with County music at its core, it seemed like the last place one would find the origins of a talented Jazz horn player. Phil's passion for music started in the 4th grade, where he became entranced with the trumpet. Maybe it was due to his father playing his ‘Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass' record a thousand times while Phil was growing up, but whatever the reason, Phil never looked back and has strived to master his instrument through decades of performing and teaching. Through his college career, Phil concentrated in the Jazz genre, Winning awards and music scholarships to multiple Universities.

After moving to Atlanta in 1988, he took over the role of Jazz Band Director for Southern Poly State University Jazz Ensemble while completing his Degree in Electronic Engineering. Around the same time, Phil became a member of the ‘Marietta Big Band' as the principle soloist and performed with the band for several years.
