STAGE BAND SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jazz Big Band-Classic-Soul-R&B-Gospel

    Jason Davis- Artistic Director

    Dallas, Texas

"Dallas music fans if you get another opportunity to see, hear Jason's Big Band , do so. I got a chance to

see them yesterday and they were great, so if you want to see a band that can Jam, Swing, Groove, then

this is it." (Bruce Mendoza- Legendary Jazz Bassist)

"You are doing an excellent job with the group. It's very uplifting to know that real music is still alive.

    Keep up the superior work!"

    (Errol Sims-Music Educator)

The building and funding of the "DFW Jazz Hall of Fame" is the immediate goal and purpose of Stage Band

South. This 16 piece Jazz Big Band has been formed to generate revenue to purchase the land and materials to

build it. We have released a performance art based music single entitled "Brush Stroke". It is available on

Amazon, iTunes and many other online stores. This CD is indeed a work considered experimental jazz but is

being used for everything from yoga classes to music therapy sessions. Stage Band South's next CD recording

will be a mixture of classic jazz and new warm grooves. Upcoming performances include a 2 hour show at The

House of Blues in Dallas and a two night showcase in October 2011 at the Dallas Convention Center. The band

has began to be sought out by national touring acts for recording and live performance work while in Dallas.

These artist include (80 year old) legendary jazz singer - pianist Jo Thompson, Neo Soul singer Geno Young ,

Simone Simone and others. The highly anticipated Debut CD is scheduled for released in November 2011.

Peripheral projects include a DFW Jazz documentary film and a Texas Song Book for students and

    professionals.

The 16 band members as well as alternates and substitutes are a fun filled set of individuals that love music.

    Most are Dallas natives but others come from Anchorage, Alaska ; Wurzburg Germany; Syracuse, New York;

New Orleans, Louisiana and Baltimore, Maryland. We are a majority of music educators and professional

freelance musicians that come together for the love of the music. Collectively our members have performed,

toured and recorded with many top named artist like Toby Keith, Kirk Franklin, The Temptations, Earth Wind

and Fire, Erykah Badu, Roy Hargrove and Pieces of a Dream. We have members with experience across all

    genres of music.

The band was founded on March 9, 2011 at The South Dallas Cultural Center. The idea to start a community

jazz big band was the brainchild of Jason Davis. The challenges were how to get everyone in the same place at

the same time, writing music for a large group, creating a band handbook of protocol and other business related

factors. Our first sight-reading exercise that day was an arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner. After those

beautiful harmonies resonated around the studio we all knew that this idea was set into motion. Close friends

and contacts throughout the world began to assist with the structure of Stage Band South and now it is a welloiled machine ready to perform. We are now embarking upon a residency at the South Dallas Cultural Center.

This gives us an opportunity to perform, rehearse and tighten our skills. We plan on eventually becoming a

staple in the budding Dallas Art's District by performing and promoting concerts of our original works.

Within a few months a simple idea has gained national attention. Through hard work, diligence and collective

work Stage Band South plans to be a key player in the development of the Dallas jazz sound.

Our members work hard and are committed to musical precision and discipline.
