Jared Goff, QB - Cal

1
JARED GOFF, CALIFORNIA QUARTERBACK #16. Jared Goff is a starting Junior Quarterback at California. Good athlete with good size. Goff has excellent footwork in the pocket and climbs the pocket when needed. He shows a quick release with a flick of the wrist. Has a good arm, accuracy is a concern. Throws under, over, behind, receivers consistently. Often see receivers slide, dive, and turn their bodies, in which they do not have the opportunity to gain more yards. Goff is mobile and is able to escape the pocket, which he is very accurate on the move, just over 70%. Can zip the ball in tight coverages. When pressured, will sometimes throw the ball where anyone can get it, and takes quite a bit of sacks. Good at reading defenses, average decision making, which is a cause for concern. Consistently tries for big plays even when they are not there, and rarely checks down. Progressions can take too long, misses the “open guy”. Played in a spread up-tempo offense, how will he adjust in a pro-style offense. Jared Goff can be a good quarterback, needs work on accuracy and decision making or defenses will feed off his mistakes.
