Clamp Safe Retention Jacket

After discussions with Shell WellEngineers the concept of the

Clamp Safe retention jacketwas initiated

The first prototype was

manufactured and afterinspection and comment byboth Shell and Smith, a furtherClamp Safe retention jacketwas made to incorporate

modifications requested by bothparticipating parties for trial onSedco 711.

Sedco 711 Trial

On Sedco 711 a 6 Hydra Jar

complete with plastic clamp andClamp Safe retention jacketwere racked in the derrick ontop of 2 x Drill Collars as is the

normal practice. The assembly was racked in the

derrick for 7 days, and wasinspected regularly for securityand safety.

This trial proved successful withno issues on either the plasticclamp or the Clamp Saferetention jacket.
