Coursework Beginning Japanese language courses

The first half of the program provides a solid foundation of Japanese to build skills and abilities in performing different activities in Japanese. The second half of the program develops proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and writing in Japanese.

Japanese language study offered at nine levels from beginning to advanced.

In addition to Japanese language, previous participants have taken courses related to religious studies, anthropology, political science, Asian Studies, and more.

Regular courses taught in Japanese open to those with advanced Japanese language proficiency.

Upper beginning and intermediate courses focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Advanced Japanese language courses focus on kanji, newspaper reading, debates and presentations, novels and films, and projects.
