Coursework Coursework taught in English is available in humanities and social sciences. Strong fields include Japanese language and literature, linguistics, international relations, art history, and history.

Japanese language study is available from beginning through advanced levels.

Coursework offered in four faculties: Commerce and Management, Economics, Law, and Social Sciences. Strong coursework taught in English is offered in the fields of business, international studies, economics, and sociology.

Japanese language study also available.

Three program options: • Keio International Program (KIP) with humanities and social sciences coursework • Japanese Language Program (JLP) with intensive language study • Short-term International Student in Faculty of Economics for economics majors to focus on coursework in economics

Coursework offered in a full range of disciplines, with most coursework taught in Japanese and a limited number of courses taught in English. Exceptionally strong courses are available in Japanese studies, economics, engineering, and sciences.

Coursework in one of three schools/programs: the School of International Liberal Studies (SILS), the School of Political Science and Economics, and the Contemporary Japanese Studies Program.

Japanese language study is required and is available from beginning to advanced levels.

Coursework Beginning Japanese language courses

The first half of the program provides a solid foundation of Japanese to build skills and abilities in performing different activities in Japanese. The second half of the program develops proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and writing in Japanese.

Japanese language study offered at nine levels from beginning to advanced.

In addition to Japanese language, previous participants have taken courses related to religious studies, anthropology, political science, Asian Studies, and more.

Regular courses taught in Japanese open to those with advanced Japanese language proficiency.

Upper beginning and intermediate courses focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Advanced Japanese language courses focus on kanji, newspaper reading, debates and presentations, novels and films, and projects.
