Committee of Management
Statement of Achievements
Year 2017
As the new chair, this year, of the Glen Stor Dun Lodge's Committee of Management, I am
pleased to report that the Lodge has performed very well.
The Leadership Team this year developed a new strategic plan with the help of their
stakeholders and the participation of members of this committee. The staff have also
continued to work hard allowing the organization to maintain a great reputation (with a
lengthy waiting list) within our community despite facing some real and difficult
challenges. Resident/family survey results continue to demonstrate a high satisfaction
rate with an average rate above 90%. The Lodge's Dietary department continues to
enjoy great reviews from the Ontario Health Unit. To date, the Lodge is functioning
within budget.
In regards to the work of the committee, I have enjoyed seeing a few things accomplished.
With the help of administration, we have accomplished all of our goals and objectives,
including a review of our roles and responsibilities and the approval and adaptation of a
code of conduct. These were recommendations from Accreditation Canada and the
committee is committed to continue to work on moving other recommended Standards
forward. The Committee is aware of the various pressures put on our services. For
instance, the access to affordable services and the lack of support and resources are
discussed quite regularly.
Overall, I am proud, as Chair, to report that the Lodge continues to be a well sought out
service in our community and I want to thank all the wonderful staff and the members of
the Committee of Management for their ongoing commitment to its success.
Sincerely,
Elaine MacDonald, Chair
Committee of Management

enfant.
Si Tu nous tiens la main,
Cette année, tout se passera bien
Car rien est impossible à Dieu.

when he notices a small boy trying to use the
doorbell on a house across the street.
However, the boy is very small and the

The Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) is a collaborative initiative of the provincial Alzheimer Societies, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, partners, and the valuable donors who support research directed at both eradicating dementia and improving the lives of those affected by it.
The ASRP targets two types of research:
1. Biomedical: Focusing on the science of the brain and the changes that are associated with dementia and identifying therapeutic targets to reverse, stop or cure the disease
2. Quality of Life (QoL): Exploring issues that impact the lives of people with dementia and their caregivers, including risk factors, behavioural and cognitive changes, physical support, caregiving and health service delivery
