Syed Taha cataloged the project files to save retrieving time in the commissioning department. Habib Mohammad sourced an alternate vendor for stationary supplies and implemented cost reduction. Marie Tanchico's suggestion made the identification document of the authorized signatory cumpulsory, during customer creation in SAP.

These individuals were rewarded for their creative suggestions during Tecon's annual strategic seminar - 2014

Editor’s Note

UAE’s economy has shown signs of recovery and prospective growth over the past 12 months. Leading the growth beacon was the construction sector, which has a number of huge projects in the pipeline calling for increased infrastructure development.

The year 2014 marked strategic improvements for Tecon, as we implemented Balance Scorecard officially, deployed ‘Enterprise Risk Management’ within the organization along with Business Continuity Planning (BCP). CSR initiatives continued in 2014 as well, and one of the projects that lifted my spirits personally was the interaction with young audience at Manipal University, advising and guiding them

through career development principles in the corporate market. We look forward to continue this endeavour in future as well.

The training team of GECO Mechanical and Electrical Ltd delivered 2021 training sessions during the year - a hallmark by itself. The team comprised Manzar, Tariq, Umar and Rashi. We continue to carry forward the legacy and vision of our leaders of presenting at least one training opportunity to every employee in the group.

Activities, Annual Event & Seminars, Sports Day and New Year Eve were some of the occasions that brought life to 2014, as the employees thoroughly enjoyed the numerous social gatherings arranged across the year. §

of awards to the best suggestions received during the year. The last hour of the day was dedicated to Syed Rizvi's retirement, and an official ceremony was held in this regard. The same was attended by the management of Albatha, ex-colleagues, co-workers and staff, who honoured and bid farewell to an illustrious career that spanned almost four decades. At the close, Syed Rizvi was presented with awards and mementoes.

GECO Engineering receives Renewed Service Authorization from Leica Geosystems for their Service Centres in UAE

Geco unveiled its fully certified and accredited service facility at Garhoud, Dubai and Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. Leica Geosystems audited Geco Engineering’s Service Center and renewed the service authorization until 2018.

The service workshop features an internal base line, the latest computer aided diagnostics, new state of the art workstations and ESD (electro static discharge) floor tiles which will allow the service technicians to process any repairs, services and instrument calibration efficiently and effectively, minimizing product downtime and maximizing instrument productivity. Moreover, the facility conforms to national and international standards and is regularly audited by Leica Geosystems’ Swiss technical service professionals, who are supported through regular product trainings and stringent quality control. The service offering and customer care packages incorporated encompass all of the latest and currently supported instruments across geomatics, construction and rail product portfolios.

The overall demand for service certificates confirming the measurement quality of new or used surveying equipment is growing, as an increasing number of surveying companies and contractors are applying for ISO 9001:2008 certification.

In the midst of all these, Syed Rizvi’s retirement was indeed a serious loss to the organization. While he will be missed by all of us, he certainly deserved his retirement after spending over thirty seven years, serving whole heartedly and with absolute commitment. The company has benefitted from his hard-work and diligence and our newly appointed finance professionals will take on from there, taking his ideas and realizing his innovations further.

With experiences gained in 2014, and new ventures planned for the coming years, we step in 2015 with enthusiasm and hopes. I wish 2015 brings in more professional achievements and success to our companies.
