While the Global economies are important for our discussion, the Indian economy remains of

paramount interest for us due to obvious reasons. The Indian economy has been developing quite well barring the hiccup in the past couple of years. This hiccup in terms of the high Current Account Deficit (CAD), high Fiscal Deficit, declining rate of growth of the GDP has been discussed and analysed threadbare in the past few months at various platforms.

As I write this the Indian Stock Markets have touched a life time high on the SENSEX yet the underlying sentiment is not completely bullish. The interest rates remain at an elevated level, the INR vis-à-vis the USD is still at a considerably weaker level than what it was 6 months back, liquidity is not very easy. Despite the SENSEX being at a life time high level the equity Mutual Funds are seeing redemptions every month from their open ended schemes. While the latest CAD no. has shown an encouraging decline the INR has not strengthened at the same rate. All these contradictions do warrant a good look at the underlying issues affecting the Indian economy.

To begin with the European economies are easily understood. They had fallen on very bad times after 2008 and do not seem to be in a position to recover quickly. The unemployment rate in the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) nation remains high. Other economic pointers in all these nations also do not spell any turnaround. Barring Germany (which always was a strong economy) others including France are in a weak state. The GDP growth rate in almost all European Union nations remains weak. Weak chances of a recovery in the near future in Europe will not help India and other growing economies.

The US economy which still remains the largest economy globally has been emitting mixed signals but these signals have been improving in recent times. The US GDP seems to be creeping up slowly, the unemployment rate which is an indicator of the future growth (lower the unemployment higher the rate of growth for the GDP, generally speaking) has either been reducing or remaining constant in the past few months. The US did create a stir when the US Fed indicated that they may taper down the monetary stimulus provided by them in the months to come. This had resulted in jitters in almost all emerging economies and asset classes (crude, gold, commodities, equities and bond markets etc). The US Fed was either testing waters or realized quickly that their economy had not really gathered the strength to sustain itself without the stimulus and they decided to not to withdraw/reduce the stimulus. In a nutshell the US economy is holding and it is important that it holds and grows

since it still remains the largest economy and will remain the most important economy for the next couple of decades if not more.

East Africa continues to grow and looks as a promising region for the next couple of decades though it has much to catch up and its current rate of growth does not really affect the global economy dramatically.

Amongst the emerging economies Brazil seems to be the best placed having ensured a low rate of inflation and policies which are encouraging investments by global players specially automobile manufacturers. Russia is maintaining course, China picked up again after a slight decline, Indonesia appears promising.

Within Asia the softening of approach by the US towards Iran and Syria is an encouraging sign and this also helps in stabilizing crude oil prices and reduces the threat of geopolitical disturbances in the Middle East unless Israel embarks on an adventure. UAE (real estate prices up in the last 1 year) and Singapore seems to

be improving. All of the above do affect India but what

affects India much more than all these is the current state of affairs where inflation in India remains high apart from the state of the other economic indicators discussed in the beginning of this write up.

The impending Lok Sabha election and the

anti Congress wave (and not the pro Modi wave as is displayed by the refreshing success of the Aam Aadmi Party), the threat of US tapering (which still exists), India’s penchant for Gold at the household level, High imports of Crude Oil and Gold (for both of which India pays in Dollars which go onto reduce the forex reserves of the country and which is not healthy), the weakness

in the INR (which if it declines further will hurt the economy much more than anything else) all suggest that we should be cautious in our approach since India is still not out of the woods. The rise in the Indian SENSEX to a life time high is driven by inflows from abroad which can all turn fragile should the US tapering start or should the INR weaken dramatically.

The only conclusion one can draw for now is that the Indian future remains bright (irrespective of who comes to power) since the demographics (huge population, most of which is young, high saving rate of individuals, low cost of labor, rising consumption, increasing earning levels etc) still remains intact. Yet it will be prudent for businesses to cut down on expenses as much as possible to enable businesses to remain in a healthier shape and watch out for the movement of above mentioned economic indicators.

Courageous, indomitable, tough, unwavering, persistent, witty, eloquent. These are some of the verbs describing a might humble personality like Syed Jaffer Hussain who is the Founder Editor of SADA-E-HUSSAINI Urdu daily. SADA-

E-HUSSAINI is published from Hyderabad India circulated in Mumbai, Bangalore and Aurangabad. It has its head office at Hyderabad and branch office at Bangalore. Since its launch in 2009, SADA-E-HUSSAINI has become a leading newspaper and a voice for the Urdu reading community.

SADA-E-HUSSAINI was started as an evening newspaper with four pages then slowly became a 6 pager , within 2 years became a morning daily with 8 pages in colour. 4 years on It is now a leading Urdu paper in Hyderabad which publishes world news in general and Islamic news in particular.

Syed Jaffer Hussain could not gather consensus amongst his peers and friends when he came up with the idea of starting a newspaper with a different perspective. He says “Often saying the truth creates many new enemies and new supporters”. Soon he faced difficult challenges. Few agreed to support this noble cause. Most felt it was impossible to run a newspaper but Syed Jaffer Hussain did not stop his mission of being a different voice, a voice to reckon with. He knew too well the power of media. He says “In this era wars are not fought with ammunition alone but with ideology. Having said this, my biggest aim is to promote our ideology which belongs to Maktabe Ahlulbaith (a.s).” Jaffer Hussain faced very tough times including finances, but never stopped the publication, even for a day. “This by itself is a great feat and surely has been possible with the help of Allah (s.w.t) and the support of the 14 masoomeen (a.s)” says Jaffer Hussain.

Soon many recognized the efforts of SADA-E-HUSSAINI and with effective public relations, he started getting overseas invitation namely to Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Dubai. He also attended an international conference in of World Youth Awakening held at Tehran. Today Jaffar Husain’s oratory skills keep him busy with lectures all over the country.

As the name suggests, it is not only a religious paper but also a general newspaper

with focus on Islam. Also as the name suggests, the focus is not on any particular sect of Islam alone but the Islam in general.

saDa-e-hussaInI –the fOcusSADA-E-HUSSAINI focuses on international news with a very different outlook. He

says “ All media companies have an agenda and this steers public opinion and many a time the agenda hurts and hides the truth. Our intention is to bring around the true facts which other media companies censor”. This makes Jaffar Hussain’s SADA-E-HUSSAINI a voice worth hearing. His analysis of Middle Eastern politics and vociferous criticism of the Imperialist West makes SADA-E-HUSSAINI one of the few or dare we say the only paper giving the true picture.

SADA-E-HUSSAINI covers news in all subjects like political, economical, health and sports. Its core competency is its editorial which is read world-wide. Today SADA-E-HUSSAINI circulates about 15,000 copies daily and attracts about 2500 hits on its website. Many scholars recommended reading the paper.

Syed Jaffar Hussain has been interviewed by Fars News Agency, Rasa News, Islam Vice, Alami Sahar Network, Howzanews.ir etc. His articles are published in many newspaper like Sahafat,AwadhNama,Munsif,Aitemad, Siyasat etc. He is also a member of the Journalist Union and an advisory board member in Imamia Business Review.

The SADA-E-HUSSAINI website now boasts of web TV. To cater to the English speaking audience, Jaffar Hussain launched an English daily e-paper called Safir Mail. Amongst his future plans include the publication of Safir Mail. “Inshallah SADA-E-HUSSAINI and Safir mail will soon be available in every large city of the country” says Jaffar Hussain.

saDa-e-hussaInI – IMpOrtanceWith not much support to begin with, Jaffar Hussain has been successfully running the

print edition since four years, without any break, this despite several difficulties around. He says “ To most people, viability and finances appear to be the major hurdle for my newspaper . However my biggest hurdle is anti social elements especially from within the community” He further states that “Many individuals day dream and hallucinate that they are flag bearers of the faith and claim to know the Shia faith in and out. Whereas, surely all they know is their own self – made belief which is also is not consistent.” Today SADA-E-HUSSAINI has the most sought after paper in Urdu speaking fraternity. People now desire to appear in the SADA-E-HUSSAINI, which is a great feat for Jaffar Hussain.

SADA-E-HUSSAINI is the only Urdu daily paper on the name of Imam Hussain in the country and should be supported in anyway possible. It’s our only national mouth piece. To pledge your support to this initiative write [email protected] / www.sadaehussaini.com

The recently-concluded India’s largest AgriBusiness show series ‘Agritech India 2013’ witnessed a

new joint venture signing ceremony on the sideline of International Conference series. The JV between Media Today Group & MESSE ESSEN GmbH(Germany) will facilitate the launching of ‘FLORATECH IPM INDIA 2014’, which will be held in Bangalore, during August 22 - 24, 2014.

The MoU was signed by M.B. Naqvi, CEO, Media Today Group and Egon Galinnis, Managing Director of Messe Essen.

“We are very pleased and proud to establish Floratech IPM India in Bangalore which is such a prestigious horticultural event in the world. Partnering with the globally renowned group MESSE ESSEN is an exhilarating experience for us. We are sure Floratech IPM India will be an event of global proportion,” said M.B. Naqvi.

When asked why Bangalore, Naqvi said, “Since Bangalore is a hub of horticulture production including flowers and plants and known producers like Krishnendra Nursery, Indo-American Hybrid Seeds, Namdhari Seeds, Bangalore Plant First, Florence Flora, Rijzwan Seeds are contributing to India’s horticulture industry in a big way, it becomes a natural choice for organizing this mega event through this joint venture”.

“Interestingly, the climatic conditions are ideal in and around Bangalore to produce high quality fresh farm produces not only for domestic markets but also for export destinations like Middle East,

South East Asia, EU, and other importing countries,” Naqvi added.

This will be particularly relevant in Southern states (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh), where farmers grow a number of horticulture crops, but have technical constraints in enhancing production and productivity because of inadequate exposure to high technology & inputs coupled with advanced production practices, logistics and marketing. In addition, shortage of labour is a major concern for progressive farmers of South India who are ready to offer more wages to labourers. Therefore, they are forced to become machinery-dependant in their farm operations. As a result, South India is emerging as one of the hottest destinations as well as a strong market with buying potential for farm machinery and equipment. In order to introduce latest mechanization, greenhouse technology, automation & technological innovations, Floratech IPM India 2014 will be an ideal platform

to launch new products & services among thousands of farmers & agro entrepreneurs to throng this expo.

After signing the document, Egon Galinnis said, “For us, the informative discussions were additional evidence that, after the success of IPM’s foreign fairs in Russia, Dubai and China, we have taken another correct and successful step by opening up the Indian market. Apart from strengthening IPM as the distinct premier global fair, IPM ESSEN will also profit from the new partnership to a considerable extent as a result of new visitors and exhibitors. We may interpret the fact that, shortly before the return flight, we were able to make the personal acquaintance of the highest official, Hon. Sr. Tariq Anwar, Minister of State for the Agricultural Sector in India, as another sign of successfully gaining entry to India’s gigantic growth market for horticulture in the future.”

The first edition of Flora Tech India, launched on the 5th anniversary of Agri Tech India, attracted attention of not only domestic but overseas floriculture industry as well.

MESSE ESSEN GmbH & IPMGermany’s MESSE ESSEN GmbH is the

organizer of world’s biggest horticulture shows (i.e. known as IPM Moscow, IPM Shanghai, IPM Dubai, etc). The iconic fairs attract thousands of serious precipitants from several countries, and are trendsetters in the horticulture exhibition segment.

The World Federation is to organise the first ever Educational Excellence Conference to be held on the 5th

January 2014 in Mumbai, India. This meeting will be coinciding with the 5th Executive Council Meeting, both the events are to be held in Mumbai, on 4th January 2014

The World Federation was initiated by Marhum Mulla Asghar and has been successfully running for 32 years. The World Federation of KSMIC’s education vision has been to empower communities with the ability to become self-sufficient.

The Forum will be the first global conference meeting, organized by the World Federation with the specific aim of sharing and collaborating with the Donors, Agencies and Institutional providers of Education. The overarching theme of the

forum will be sharing the Best Practices in Education and “showcase” a successful project that has attained the desired impact. This will allow us to benchmark the current practices with the world class best practice tools and inspire us with innovative tools and methodologies in India and

overseas. The Global India Forum will be a great

opportunity for Donors and Agencies of ZCSS, Institutional Leaders and Trustees of Educational centres and experts, to learn and share best practices in Education.

This Forum will seek to provide everyone an opportunity to shape the next thirty years of education excellence not only for the Agencies in India but around the world. We will be honoured with your participation, and look forward to your valuable expertise and contribution to this vision. This will allow forum to reflect upon the role of Educational leadership and principles, lessons and “known-to-work” strategies and methods that can best explain both the achievements and challenges of these efforts – through workshops and dialogue.

Arba’een of Imam Hussain a.s. The son of Hazrat ALI a.s. Is the largest Gathering of Human on

EarthMillions of Shia Muslims gather

around the Husain Mosque in Karbala after making the Pilgrimage on foot during Arba’een. Arba’een (Arabic: for “forty”) or Chehelom in Persian and Urdu , “the fortieth [day]”, is a Shia Muslim religious observance that occurs 40 days after the Day of Ashura. It commemorates the martyrdom of Hussein bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad which falls on the 20th day of the month of Safar. Imam Husayn and 72 companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (680 CE), killed by the tyrant Yazid I’s army. Arba’een is also observed 40 days after the death of a family member or loved one. Forty days is the usual length of the time of mourning in many Islamic cultures. Arba’een, or Chehlom, is one of the largest pilgrimage gatherings on Earth, in which over 25 million people go to the city of Karbala in Iraq.

The occasion reminds the faithful of the core message behind Husain’s martyrdom: establishing justice and fighting injustice, no matter what its incarnation—a message that strongly

influenced subsequent Shi’a uprisings against the Umayyad and Abbasid rule.

Millions of Shia Muslims gather around the Imam Husain Mosque in Karbala after making the Pilgrimage on foot from Najaf around 120 kms. In the first Arba’een gathering in the year 62 AH, Jabir ibn Abd-Allah Al Ansari, a companion of the

Prophet, was one of the first people who performed a pilgrimage to the burial site of Imam Husain. Due to his infirmity and probable blindness, he was accompanied by Atiyya bin Saad. His visit coincided with that of the surviving female members of the Prophet’s family and Imam Husain’s son and heir Imam Zain-ul-Abideen, who had all been held captive in Damascus by Yazid I, the Umayyad Caliph. Imam Zain-ul-Abideen had been too ill to participate in the Battle of Karbala. He later devoted his life to Azadari and spreading the message of Imam Husain’s supreme sacrifice. The city of Karbala in Iraq, the third holy place of Shia Islam, is the center of the proceedings where, in a show of humility, many crawl through the streets of the city

while others fall on their hands and knees as they approach the Shrines of Husain and his brother Abbas ibn Ali. Many pilgrims travel miles on foot to reach Karbala the list includes people of all faith Muslims Christians and even Hindus.

Observance of Arba’een in Karbala was banned for many years when Saddam Hussein, was president of Iraq. For nearly 30 years under Saddam’s regime it was forbidden to mark Arbaeen publicly in Iraq. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the observance in April 2003 was broadcast worldwide.

Arba’een is consistently among the largest peaceful gatherings in history. In 2008, approximately nine million religious observers converged on Karbala to commemorate Arba’een. However, in 2009, the number of people visiting Karbala on Arba’een significantly increased. According to the official website of BBC News and Press TV (Iran), over ten million people had reached the city of Karbala one or two days before Arba’een. The number of pilgrims was expected to rise to 18 million during the next two days, Arbaeen reached over 25 million in 2013 and this year new records are expected.

Right from the advent of Islam, it has focused on the development of human being from all aspects viz. spiritual, social

and ethos. The guide sent by Allah to train the world these traits was at the highest level of morals and etiquettes.

Today, the corporate world recognizes development of worker and uses various mediums for employee enhancement such as training, learning, coaching, mentoring and so on. A function which was perceived as cost or secondary need, is now been appraised as a partner in success. It is because of the results it has yielded after incurring the cost.

There are three Ps to success in any business at all levels. They are Product, Process and People. Needless to say, our focus is largely on the first two Ps. We are in constant endeavour to enhance our product and process, however we are heedless towards our most important capital i.e. People. For some it may be our employees or subordinates and for some it may be our own selves.

Stephen Covey in his best seller ‘The 7 Habits

of Highly Effective People’ mentions this as the last habit, known as ‘Sharpening the Saw’. It means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have and that is YOU or your people. Investing in ourselves increases our capacity to produce and handle the challenges around us. What Stephen Covey meant was continuous improvement at every stage of life, either through training, consulting or mere pondering. We are obliged that our Imams have taught us this approach more than a thousand years ago, when Imam Ali (a) said ‘he is a loser whose two days are equal’ and hence once should invest in himself regularly

Training and Development is the medium which can help the above mentioned goal. It not only helps self improvement but helps business sustain as well. One will find many articles, books and success stories enumerating the benefits of training to the employee as well as the firm. In this article we shall mention only a couple of them

Improving employee skills is not only about improving his technical skills but also the interpersonal skills related to communication, presentation and other behavioural skills. A workforce having good interpersonal skill is likely to stay with the firm for long and give better results. Some of the other skills that should be emphasized besides those related to industry and interpersonal include how to manage time efficiently, how to deal with conflicts, and how to build a good team.

However, the kind of training an employee receives is very important. Allowing an

the success MAntrA

• Training saves labour by reducing duplication of effort, time spent on problem solving, and time spent on correcting mistakes.

• Training saves money as a better skilled workforce means fewer machine breakdowns, lower maintenance costs, lower staff turnover, lower recruitment costs, less need for supervision and increased worker productivity.

trAInIng, leArnIng, cOachIng, MentOrIngTanveer Devji talks about the importance of training in corporate and business word in this exclusive article.

employee to simply pass through a sort of sub-par training course does not guarantee improvement. The training must be supported by everyone in the organization.

Otherwise, there is no point in wasting even a half-hearted effort

at training. A contemptible training will not harvest the results one aimed at. The quality of the training should match where you see your company a few years down the line. Excellent training programs ensure a correlation between personal developments of the employee as well as meet the organizational goals resulting in a win-win situation for both the parties.

I would like to conclude with a tradition from the door of knowledge ‘Success is the result of foresight and resolution, foresight depends upon deep thinking and planning’. A good customized training program provides you with a step towards all of the above.
