Its finally here, 2012. We havent anticipatednew year like this since, well, 2000! Remember Y2K?! Doom and gloom, black helicopte

friends stockpiling beans and studying survivaltips. The impending collapse of computer systemwas expected to take out telecommunications abanking systems sending the world into apocaly

tic chaos. One sweet friend in Tucson, AZ had astorage shed full of collected toys and blankets fthe multitude of refugee children just in case.

Then, nothing happened. The thing is, even if we are standing at the edge of a shift, we wo

know until we get to the other side. The Mayan calendar marked theend of one age, and theyre not around to map out the next one.

Hey, you can relax because its all an illusion anyway! We have thechoice every day to decide whether to let fear in, or to boldly step ouinto a life and a reality of our own choosing! One of hope, love andenthusiasm for the future we are making right now.

Even when suffering a personal or societal tragedy, there is still achoice - a choice to make it mean something, to become stronger anto let those around us show their humanity and compassion as theycome together in support.

Even if it is difficult to see the silver lining, a wise person once saidIf you can only say one simple prayer-Thank You will be enough.Gratitude is like the motor oil in the engine of life- you can go withoit, but it sure makes the engine run smoother!

The shift or tipping point may be at hand. Vote for someone who sethe big picture and is not fearful of doing the right thing or angeringgreedy corporations. Demand GMO labeling on your food. Use andsupport clean or renewable energy. As consumers, we vote with ever

dollar we spend. Spend at local, ethical businesses and buy Fair Trador green products.

We are the meek, yet we will ROAR as we inherit the Earth! We here at Natural Awakenings are seeing great things for 2012

cal businesses are growing and reaching out to their community for sport. Communities of like-minded people are growing as they attempto raise the consciousness of the world. Kindness is displayed every dlike the stranger who helped change Terrys tire in busy traffic or the15 people that helped Doug after a truck hit him on his bike. Our littpositive magazine is growing. Both foster dogs we saved from euthanasia found loving families. Turn off the network news and look arou

our own wonderful community, its full of beauty and kindness.

We truly wish you a prosperous, loving, healthyand happy 2012; may your gratitude know nobounds and your blessings overflow.

    HAVE YOU HAD THIS EXPERIENCE?

One day I was walking back to my car to finish some errands, and told myself I needed to hurry to finish the arrangements for an upcoming family celebration. Myinternal conversation continued, saying I had to get it all done in a particular way. Suddenly, I had a flash of insight when I realized that the voice I was hearing wasnmy own. The next thought that came to me was definitely in my own voice: Thats creepy! Who is that putting their thoughts into my head?

I recognized the voice from my childhood - my favorite aunt who was always in our kitchen helping prepare for family occasions. What a wonderful person, but sbeen gone for nearly fifteen years!!

Over the next several days I found myself checking to hear whose voice was speaking when various thoughts occurred. I was amazed to realize that many wereopinions I had first heard expressed by someone else: a family member, a teacher, a friend, even someone on television. I began to wonder: how much of me was reame, and how much was a random collection of notions from other people? I realized I was trying to deal with my world today by using a rag-tag bunch of unconscious

rules from my past. I cherish my memories of my aunt, but dont we want to make our own choices, consciously? Not long afterwards, I came across this statement from Gary Douglas: Consciousness is the ability to be present in your life in every moment. The Fast Focusing Center specializes in re-training the brain through innovative, natural and drug-free techniques that we have used to help ourselves heal and move forward in our ow

journeys. We want to teach you! Re-Train Your Brain with us Saturday, January 14th and release those voices from your past. Well teach you how to be conscious in decision-making evday, and show you ways to continually improve and manifest the life of your dreams even after you leave our class.

    New Practice Focuses onDigestive Health

Dr. Andrew M. Bridgeforth, DC hasopened IN:VIVO at 600 S Cherry St.,Suite 1130 in Denver specifically to help

his patients overcome digestive issues, uncover hidden food sensitivities andunderstand the best specific food choicesfor each individual.

What I really love about my profes-sion is the opportunity to use my trainingand experience to teach my patients, said Bridgeforth.

Bridgeforth uses the ALCAT (Anti-gen Leukocyte Cellular Antibody Test)

system due to its 20-year proven track record. He explains,The test results have demonstrated a high correlation todouble-blinded oral challenges and, according to a studydone at Baylor Medical College, a 98% success rate in im-proving body composition or weight loss for those followingthe ALCAT Rotation Diet.

According to Bridgeforth, the test measures response tohundreds of foods at the cellular level rather than relying onan overall immune response like most other tests.

I was eating all organic and gluten free, yet I was still 50pounds overweight. I discovered that I should avoid somefoods that just werent right for my body, said Bridgforth. Forexample, I have to avoid wild Alaskan salmon, an otherwisevery healthy food, but I can enjoy other fish.

Bridgeforth is now lean, trim and healthy and would like to

help more people achieve their ideal weight and optimum health. Dr. Andrew Bridgforth can be reached at IN:VIVO by call-ing (720) 443-3212 or WithintheLiving.com.

Weight Loss Tips for 2012According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES),68% of men and 72.3% of women are now overweight or obese. These rateshave been rising steadily since 1980. Those in this dubious majority may be plan-ning yet another diet for the new year. If so, consider a paradigm shift!

Rather than talk about weight loss, use terms like reducing and releasing.

Use the phrase lifestyle exchange. To achieve a healthier life, we exchangethoughts, words, foods, activities, for ones that help us reach our highest good.

Exchange less-healthy choices for more ideal ones; eat less food, select wholefoods - fresh vegetables, lean protein, good fats, and fresh fruits - instead of fast food, sugar or pasta. Choose raw foods forcooked, and unprocessed foods instead of ready to eat meals full of ingredients you cant pronounce. Shop the perimeter othe store and avoid the center aisles whenever possible. Release couch potato behaviors in exchange for a walk after dinne

Here are 3 key steps to reducing weight, releasing fat and staying at your ideal weight:

    1. Know why you want to be your ideal weight. Write down how you will look and feel. This will be yourmotivation when you are tempted to do something that is not for your highest good.

    2. Plan your food choices and supplements to support your health for a lifetime. Diets dont work in the long haul;a health plan for your lifetime will.

    3. Include activity and movement in your health plan.

If you always do what youve always done, youll always get what youve always gotten. Consider joining a supportgroup or working with a health professional who can direct and support you with knowledge and experience. Hope andhelp are available; dont fall into the old traps of failure and frustration. Do something different this year!

The Eli Ashby Healing Arts Center of Arvada will be offering a 90-day program to assist you in reducing weight for a lifetime. Reserve a spot for their free, program overview on January 10. RSVP to 303-463-6565. See ad, page 11.

Faux FoodDemand Labels on GeneticallyEngineered Foods

    The UnitedStates is ararity among

developedcountries inthat it does notrequire labelingof geneticallyengineered (GE)foods. Russia,Japan, China,Australia, New Zealand and 15 nationsin the European Union require notice ofGE content. A poll byABC News showsthat 93 percent of Americans want the

federal government to require manda-tory labeling of these foods. The nonprofit Center for Food Safety(CFS) has filed a petition with the U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA)demanding that the agency requirethe labeling of GE foods, on behalf ofthe Just Label It campaign (JustLabelIt.org), a coalition of 350 companies, organizations, scientists, doctors andindividuals dedicated to food safetyand consumer rights.

In 1992, the FDA issued a policy

statement that GE foods were not ma-terially different than traditional foods, and so did not need to be labeled.Agency policy severely constricts dif-ferences only to alterations that can betasted, smelled or otherwise detectedthrough the five senses.

CFS Executive Director AndrewKimbrell states, Current FDA policyuses 19th-century rationale for a 21st-century issue, leaving consumers inthe dark as to hidden changes to their

food. It is long overdue that the FDAacknowledges the myriad reasonsgenetically engineered foods shouldbe labeled and label these novel foodsonce and for all. Critics claim that GEfoods are linked to both personal healthand environmental risks.

What do you Mean,My Gut is Leaky?!By Dr. Ian Hollaman, DC

Understanding whatis meant by leakyGut may be critical

to your health and well-beingwhether you are currentlyexperiencing problems or not.Ongoing research is connect-ing this proposedcondition tothe full range of autoimmunedisorders. It is aproposedcondition because the AmericanMedical Association refuses to recognize it as a diagnosis. And why should they? Big Pharma and the medical estab-

lishment (AMA) make billions of dollars annually on treat-ing the resulting autoimmune diseases.Leaky Gut is an increased permeability of the gastrointestinal

(GI) tract that may be caused by toxins, poor diet, parasites, infections or prescription medications. This allows undigestedfood particles, as well as the above, to enter the bloodstream. This over-activates pro-inflammatory cytokines and the antibodysystem which worsens intestinal permeability and systemicinflammation. Current research links this condition with theonset, or worsening, of over 80 autoimmune disorders.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices, 23.5 million Americans suffer from one of 80 au-toimmune diseases. Triple that number may have a genetic

predisposition and no or few symptomsYET! Some ofthe most common are: Alopecia areata (hair loss), Celiacdisease, Diabetes type 1, thyroid diseases-Hashimotosand Graves, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Hemolytic anemia,Inflammatory bowel disease, Multiple sclerosis, Psoriasis,Rheumatoid arthritis and Sjgrens syndrome.

To understand the connection between gut health andautoimmune issues, we look to the example of Celiac Dis-ease and the research of Dr. Alessio Fassano of the Univer-sity of Maryland Center for Celiac Research.

Dr Fassano found that patients with Celiac Disease andother autoimmune disorders have significant impairment

to the GI tract. He determined the molecule zonulin wasresponsible for the leaky gut process. This molecule man-ages the movement of molecules across our gut wall. A 2008paper, Celiac disease pathogenesis: the proinflammatorycytokine network by JA Garrote confirmed this link. Garroteexplains that when large, antigenic molecules cross the gutepithelium they can create systemic, chronic inflammation.

Regardless of your genetics, you may be experiencingsome of leaky guts symptoms (see table), especially if youregularly ingest any of the food-like, processed substancesfound in the middle of the supermarket.

This is why nearly all Complementary and AlternativeMedicine (CAM) practitioners look to digestive health firstNew, sensitive testing allows the practitioner to get a clearpicture of digestive health. Besides the skin, the intestinaltract is our direct interaction with our environment. This tyof testing looks for antibody production and can be repeatto directly assess progress in restoring digestive health.

For those individuals with a family history of autoimmdisorders or for anyone who regularly experiences any othe symptoms in the table, rather than pop a purple pillan antacid or an NSAID, consider optimizing your diges-tive health with an experienced professional. The benefitless gas and bloating, fewer headaches, less depression oanxiety and feeling 20 years younger can be yours!

If youre ready to achieve optimal digestive health, Dr.Hollaman DC specializes in digestive health and autoim-mune disorders such as Celiac Disease and Thyroid dys-function. He can be reached at Red Tail Wellness Center,303-882-8447 or see ad page 2.

What is SeasonalAffective Disorder?By Kathy Higgins

    W

inter in Colo-rado means ski-ing, snowshoeing

and other snowy fun. But forsome, the shorter days meanSAD or Seasonal AffectiveDisorder, a recurrent win-tertime depression. SAD orwinter depression correlatesto the decrease in daylight.According to the Diagnosticand Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, SAD is char-acterized by depression, day time fatigue, oversleeping, carbohydrate cravings, loss of sex drive, social withdrawaland feelings of hopelessness. The depression may be mild

or moderate, but some severe cases have been reported. The bodys intrinsic response to seasonal change saysthis should be time to go within, take a break and allowourselves to rest. However, our cultural values emphasizeefficiency and productivity, mobility and consumerism.

For milder down feelings, reach out to trusted friends, clergy or family members. Its important to stay connectedrather than isolate.

Seek help from a trained professional if you experien

    Suicidal thoughts or behavior;

    Social withdrawal; loneliness, guilty feelings, feeling hopless and helpless;

    School or work problems, i.e. tasks required for daily livlike cooking, eating, showering, become difficult to ovecome for more than a day or two;

Substance abuse, especially narcotics, alcohol, prescriptanti-anxiety medications like Xanax.

It also might be a good idea to get a check-up. Medicalissues can play a factor in our energy levels. Mononucleosthyroid problems, Vitamin D deficiency, anemia and othercan cause or worsen depression.

Meditation:A Time for LoveBy Mother Clare Watts

Though many people every day allover the world sit on floors, oncushions, on their heels or on chairs

in an attempt to enter into some level of inner stillness or broadenedconsciousness, very few actually ever manage to go very far into thatsought-after state. Most people do feel more relaxed after the quiet timesin which they chose to meditate. That is in itself a worthy result. But mostwish that they could go further into the stillness, further into their innerbeings, further into the world of spirit and they are saddened and frus-trated that the times of attempted meditation do not bear more fruit.

What is it that keeps most meditators from achieving higher con-sciousness and lasting inner peace in spite of their repeated efforts to doso through their meditative practices?

The most frequent reason that keeps people from having the greater, more desired effects of their meditative practices is that they do not love.If you enter into meditation with intentions of stillness and peace, but

your heart is not opening with love to that which is the Great Love, notmuch will happen. The great mystics of all traditions have not coinciden-tally also been the great lovers of God. When they entered into medita-tion, they went into their inner chambers anticipating with great yearningand devotion to have a meeting with God. That God is God of Love, sothe meeting and the relationship had to be one of love. This is not the ro-mantic kind of love, because it is not about what you can get for yourself. But it is most definitely about the possibility of entering into the fullest, deepest and most profound love relationship any person can ever have.

To have a lover/beloved relationship with God within, you will haveto be ready to accept the profound experience of being completelyknown and loved to your very core. You will need to be prepared to havethe experience of that love changing you and your life in unexpectedways. When you feel that loved by this Being that knows all your faults, all your weaknesses, and all your wounds, you will either accept it inawed humility or you will pull back in fear and shame. To be preparedto be able to accept the experience of such profound love, you willneed to do some work. The work involves you opening up to the feelingsthat you have repressed and which you have been afraid to feel or tooashamed to acknowledge. The inner experience of Divine Love has tomove through your heart, so your heart will first need to be opened up toyour own feeling of all that is in it. Then, when you can face yourself andyour feelings, you will need to be able to ask for and accept forgivenessfor what you have done wrong. Without this step, you will be too afraidor too mad to be able to open to the influx of that great Love.

If you are willing to do this preparatory work and make your heart onethat will be able to receive and hold the experience of the Love that Godwithin you holds for you, you will discover being completely, deeplyand unconditionally loved in a way no human could ever give to you. Then you will begin to know who you are and who God is. Then youwill begin to truly know how to meditate. Mother Clare Watts is a renowned mystic; ordained priest; MasterTeacher of Christian mysticism; and co-director of a mystical ChristianOrder. She travels internationally giving spiritual seminars and will

present seminars on love at the Denver Center of Light February 2-4.Denver.CentersofLight.org.See ad, page 6.

    inspiration

These daily practices will helpyou move toward Spirit in yourthoughts and actions.

1Commit to at least one dailyexperience where you sharesomething of yourself with no

expectation of being acknowledged orthanked. For example, before I beginmy daily routine, I go to my desk andchoose my gift for that day. Sometimes

its just a phone call to a strangerthats written to me, or perhaps I order

flowers or send a book or a presentto someone that has helped me in alocal store. On one occasion, I wroteto the president of the university Igraduated from to start a scholarshipfund; on another day, I took a calen-dar to the yard man; on another, I senta check to Habitat for Humanity; andon another, I sent three rolls of post-age stamps to my son, who had juststarted his own business. It doesnt

matter if this activity is big or smallits a way to begin the day in-Spirit.

2Become conscious of all thouthat arent aligned with yourSource. The moment you catc

yourself excluding someone or havia judgmental thought, say the wordin-Spirit to yourself. Then make a lent effort to shift that thought to maup with Source energy.

    3In the morning before youre

fully awake, and again as yougoing to sleep, take one or twominutes of what I call quiet time wiGod. Be in a state of appreciation asay aloud, I want to feel good.

4Remind yourself of this statemMy life is bigger than I am.Prinit out and post it strategically in

your home, car or workplace. The Iis your ego identification. Your life isSpirit flowing through you unhindereby egoits what you showed up heto actualizeand is infinite. The I identifies you is a fleeting snippet.

If weve engaged in any of these

activities, we are among the nearlytwo-thirds of Americans that usecomplementary and alternative medi-cine (CAM) therapies each year. Whilethese approaches to wellness have beenpracticed for millennia, its only beenin the past decade or so that they havebegun to move from the U.S. alternativefringe into the American mainstream.

The widespread use of CAM thera-pies is due to a confluence of three

trends: a growing body of crediblescientific research that supports theireffectiveness; popular demand for thesenatural, non-invasive and effectivetherapies; and growing recognition byconventional practitioners that healing isaccomplished through holistic treatmentsthat address body, mind and spirit.

Signs of the TimesToday, even the staid American MedicalAssociation recommends a multivita-min supplement for virtually everyone;you can find a yoga class in almost anyYMCA or community college; presti-gious medical schools have departmentsof complementary and alternative medi-cine; and some hospitals are encourag-ing their staff to become proficient in en-ergy medicine and healing techniques.

The U.S. government established tNational Center for Complementary Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in 19under the auspices of the National Intutes of Health, to investigate and evate promising unconventional medicpractices. In the 21st century, its beepicked up more widely under the cocept of integrative medicine, in whicconventional medical and more natu

Energy TherapiesCurrent energy therapies comprisea broad range of hands-on healing

modalities, ranging from Reiki, Heal-ing Touch and Emotional FreedomTechniques (tapping), to an increasingarray of hybrids. The Energy MedicineInstitute (EnergyMed.org), in Ashland,Oregon, notes that energy medicinecan employ a variety of non-invasivemethods intended to trigger the bodysnatural healing powers, working to acti-vate energies that have become weak-ened, disturbed or unbalanced.

    According to the institute, flow,

balance and harmony can berestored and maintained withinan energy system by tapping, massaging, pinching, twistingor connecting specific energypoints (known as acupoints)on the skin; tracing orswirling the hand overthe skin along specificenergy pathways; exer-cises or postures designedfor specific energetic effects;focused use of the mindto alter specific energies; and/orsurrounding an area with healingenergies (one persons energiesimpact anothers).

Nicolas Ortner, founder of TheTapping Solution, calls this EmotionalFreedom Techniques-based energymodality, a combination of ancientChinese acupressure and modernpsychology. By tapping on meridianpoints of the body while repeating cer-tain helpful affirmations about health

or emotional situations, energeticblockages can be removed, allow-ing profound physical and emotionalchanges to take place.

Ortner is excited about the grow-ing awareness of self-guided healingthrough energy modalities, includinghis technique. We had 350,000 peopleat our online Tapping World Summitlast year, he says. That says somethingabout the need that we are fulfilling.

HerbalismHerbalism is widely practiced world-wide to heal body and mind, andherbs and other plants are sometimesused in spiritual healing. Herbs arecommonly prescribed by conventionalphysicians in Europe. In 1978, theGerman Commission E published alist of more than 300 herbs, notingresearch attesting to their safety and

effectiveness, as well as possible sideeffects and drug interactions.

The United States has lagged in itsacceptance of herbal interventions.Still, Susun Weed, founder of the WiseWoman Center, in Woodstock, NewYork, and author of four herbal books, including Healing Wise, points out thatdrug companies have been quick to

isolate various herbal medicinecomponents and market themas prescription drugs.

In the 60s, I discoveredthat the weeds in my garden werebetter medicinal plants than the onesI intentionally planted, recalls Weed.Back then, there was a general beliefthat these alternative systems werentreal medicine. But its more a matterof the Western world catching up withthe rest of the world, she notes. TheWorld Health Organization says that 90

percent of the health care given on thisplanet is given by women in their ownhomes, using local plants.

Weed reports that across the UnitedStates, attendance at herbal conferenc-es has soared. Herbalism is a big ideawhose time has come again, and is nowbeing rewoven into family life. I callit re-weaving the healing cloak of theancients, she says. This is evolution-ary medicine.

HomeopathyHomeopathy, operating on the principle of like treats like, involvesthe use of highly diluted substanceto trigger the bodys natural processof healing. According to The Societof Homeopaths, A substance whiccauses symptoms when taken in ladoses, can be used in small amountreat those same symptoms.

For example, drinking too much fee can cause sleeplessness and agition. Thus, when caffeine is made ina homeopathic medicine, it could bused to treat people with these symtoms.

Dana Ullman, author ofTheHomeopathic Revolution andEverybodys Guide to HomeopathicMedicines, notes that the trend inhomeopathy in the United States haits debunkers. He attributes this to

establishment fears that, If homeopthy is true, then everything about mern medicine and science is false.

But, he adds, The homeopathydeniers ignore or downplay the

NaturopathyNaturopathic medicine, a generalsystem of natural medicine, includesnutrition, herbalism, homeopathy, acupuncture and energy medicine. Its

goal is to holistically address the en-tire organismbody, mind and spirit.

In general, naturopathic physiciansare those that work to support our

    innate healingabilities. Theyuniversallyencourage

    adoption

of lifestyle changes that promoteoptimal health.

In states where naturopathicdoctors (ND) are licensed, practi-

tioners are required to graduatefrom a four-year residentialnaturopathic medical schooland pass a board examina-tion. In states that do not

    license them, people that

successfully completeonline courses can callthemselves a natu-ropath. Make surethat any consultingnaturopathic doctorhas graduated from a

residential program ap-proved by the American As-

    sociation of Naturopathic Physicians(Naturopathic.org).

Carl Hangee-Bauer, current president of the nation-al association and a doctor of natu-ropathy with San Francisco NaturalMedicine, has long been a proponentof licensing. He observes, Currently,16 states license naturopaths, and thetrend is toward more licensing statesand inclusion in federal programs, aswell as loan forgiveness. He believesthis will bring more qualified studentsto the profession.

Economics is among the many incen-tives driving consumers to a greater

awareness of the benefits of pursuingwellness, as they come to understandhow major, long-term medical billsmight be reduced by applying commonsense, healthy lifestyle practices andother doable steps toward preventingillness in the first place. Nutrition comprises the time-testedfoundation of health and includesfoods and vitamin and mineral supple-ments, as well as herbs and spices.Importantly, core values about nutri-tion vary from culture to culture.

In the United States, the Stan-dard American Diet (SAD) has beenoff-track for long enough that it hasresulted in a widespread health crisis. The problem is that, contrary to the

counsel of nutrition experts, many us have become heavily dependentupon high-fat, high-sugar, heavily pcessed foods. The typical Americandiet is severely lacking in recommeed vegetables, fruits and whole gra

The health crisis isnt limitedto the United States, states JoshuaRosenthal, founder of the Institute f

Rosenthal is encouraged by thegrowing awareness of healthy eatias taught by 19,000 graduates of hschool, providing services in all 50states and 82countries.We are atthe begin-ning of arevolution,he says. By2020, peoplewill see thatthe quality ofour food affectseverything. Aware-ness and education are atthe forefront of this revolution, andmovements like ours are among th

    major catalysts for change.

Looking ForwardOverall, todays trends in CAM therapies are positive, hopeful and helpfuConventional medicine seems to bebecoming more open to a broad ranof therapies it once peremptorily relegated to the scientific dustbin.

New research and long-termevidence proves that many of thesnon-invasive therapies are effectiv

and can work hand-in-hand withconventional therapies. Individualand in combination, they can resuin healings and cures once unimagnable to traditional practitioners.

presses itself and gives birth to every formof individual consciousnessthe individ-ual observer and the internal process ofobservation, as well as the objects, whichare also experienced within the observer.

What steps can we take to

shift human consciousness? No social transformation happens inthe absence of personal transformation.

Therefore, without worrying about otherpeople, the questions to ask yourself arethese: Can I be the change that I want tosee in the world? What kind of world doI want to live in and how can I becomethe agent to create that world for myself?

When we are personally practicingthe divine attitudes of loving kindness, joy, compassion and equanimity, we aremoving out of our limited ego. If we alldo this and reach critical mass, it is pos-sible to create a peaceful, just, sustain-able and healthy worldbut we each

have to shift our self to get where wewant to go. To make such a radical shift,we must explore the process of wakingup, which centers on transcending themaelstrom of everyday thoughts to findthe Source of the mind.

How do you definetranscendence? There are many levels of transcendence. The most profound is deep meditation, known to alter brain structure and lead to

lasting transformation. Transcendence canalso happen through deep contemplation, mindfulness, music, poetry, art in any form, dance, falling in love and selfless service.Whenever you experience any quality ofpure consciousness, however fleeting, youhave transcended the mundane.

Pure consciousness, which is theunseen, infinite potential from whicheverything springs, is centered withinitself; silent and peaceful, awake, self-organizing, spontaneous, dynamic, blissful, knowing, whole and encom-

passing. Despite the infinite diversity ofthe physical world, at a deeper level, only one process is occurring: Whole-ness is moving like a single ocean thatholds every wave. You experience thisquality when your life makes sense andyou feel a part of nature; you are athome simply by being alive.
