We appreciate your understanding.
And, speaking of KBEW, Pastor Mark was kind enough to continue our Morning Reflections radio spot
through the end of January. Our own Kevin Benson has graciously agreed to do the first two weeks in February, and
our hope is Pastor Meierding, at that point, will be acclimated and ready to step into Morning Reflections. We thank
Shell Food Mart for their continued sponsorship of our radio ministry.
Thank you all for your support as together, we continue God’s work.

The students of Trinity are still giving their offering to ELCA’s Global Barnyard. On the bulletin board (basement level) it shows the silo being filled. Right now they are at $409.09. Hopefully by May we can reach $1000. Parents/Guardians of the children, thank you for teaching them how important it is to give. For in giving, we do receive. God bless, Cheri Brooks
As we look forward to a new year, let’s remember that the grace and wisdom we need to fulfill our responsibilities is available in the One whose birth we just celebrated…. “That we may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that we may have great endurance and patience and joyfully giving thanks to the Father.” Colossians 1:10-12
This is my last newsletter as education volunteer. Kim Jacobson applied and was hired to fill the position Cindy Bly held. There were two applicants and both interviews went very well. The hiring task force presented Kim as their choice and at the December 10th Council meeting, Kim accepted. Remember Kim and Donna in your prayers, along with Trinity members going through the next transition. I think of one of my grandma’s favorite Bible verses. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31. I’ve said this before, “I am truly thankful with a grateful heart.” The prayers and support from my Trinity family was truly appreciated these last 4 months. It is hard to say just thanks to Donna. As a family of Trinity, we are truly blessed to have her on staff. For myself, she is the glue that mends many areas of our church. The students of Trinity presented their Christmas program on December 14. They did a wonderful job presenting the story of Christ’s birth through readings and traditional carols. Sunday School will begin January 4. Class time is 9:40 – 10:30 a.m. JAM (Wednesday’s After School Program) will start January 7. Students
Kindergarten through 6th grade meet from 2:15 – 4:00 p.m. Thanks to the teachers who will continue to teach Sunday School classes. The second term begins February 1st. For myself, I will continue to volunteer as I’m proud to be a member of Trinity and this family. God bless each of you! Cheri Brooks

Children, Children, Children, Children, YouthYouthYouthYouth and Family and Family and Family and Family Ministry NewsletterMinistry NewsletterMinistry NewsletterMinistry Newsletter Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
“What’s New?” One day while in Juba’s someone greeted me smiling and saying ….”what’s new?“ I wondered if they had heard by the way they asked.
So I asked… “Have you heard? I have a new position at Trinity!!” They had heard and they were excited for me!
As you may know we were looking for someone to fill the Education Coordinator position. I had been asked several times if I would be
interested, and every time my response was the same...NO. But God had a different plan! Through lots of prayer and a tugging at my
heart, I felt the call from the Lord that was very familiar to me. I had felt it before. I have actually been feeling for some time that He was
calling me to something more at Trinity, I just didn’t recognize this as it! So, when I stopped to listen rather than responding for me, the
answer was clear. So, effective January 5th, I will be the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry and I couldn’t be more excited!!
After I officially accepted the offer I came across the following when I was reading some
scripture about being called. Habitually saying no to His voice will result in loss, but those who have lived for Him
instead of themselves will be richly rewarded.
And great is my reward.. I GET TO work with children, youth and families!! I “GET TO” spend time with kids for 13 years -- not just 7!
My cup is overflowing with Joy. And it will be a Happy New Year!! Praise God
I know I need to pace myself as there will be lots to learn as I get acclimated into this new position and I know there are big shoes to fill. I
already have some exciting plans for some family events and activities so keep watching the Trumpet and bulletins as well as mailings. I
will begin to explain some of my ideas in coming newsletters. Thank you to everyone that encouraged me to consider applying and
supported my decision in this process. I feel very blessed to be called!

Continued on next page
I am really excited to get to know a lot of your children when I start my new position as the Director of Children, Youth and Family
Ministries. I have had the opportunity to sit in on a couple of their lessons on Wednesday and they seem to really love coming to
Trinity. And we love having them! Wednesday afternoon the church is full of life and laughter and it will be a joy to be able to
experience working with these kids. JAM will resume on the 7th of January. If you have a child that has not yet signed up, this would
be a great time to do it. There is always room for more! You will need to fill out the appropriate forms at school if you are in need of
busing as well as calling the church and letting us know they are coming. All are welcome!
Here is a list of the things your children will be learning in January:
♦ January 7th: FORGIVING OTHERS : What a great way to start out the New Year! Being forgiven and forgiving others is a fresh new
start! That is what Jesus does for us, and we should do it for others.
♦ January 14th: BE RESPONSIBLE : We will talk about the importance of thinking before you act as well as learning practical ways
they can be responsible at home.
♦ January 21st: BE PATIENT: The children will learn what it means to wait without complaining and remaining calm.
♦ January 28th: Sharing with others: The children will learn what it means to share and to not keep everything for themselves.
SUNDAY SCHOOL WILL RESUME ON THE 4TH OF January at 9:40 a.m.
Parents
Please feel free to contact me any
time about questions or concerns
you may have in regards to your
child. I want to work with you,
making learning about Jesus fun and
engaging.
I recognize that every child learns
differently so if we can be helpful in
that area, please let us know.
I look forward to getting to know
your children and meeting all of
you.
Blessings!
