Meaning:—

Oh Lord ! With a curved trunk and a hugebody, whose brilliance is equal to a crore of Suns, I pray to you to

remove the obstacles from all the actions we perform.

Story : Birth of Lord Ganesh

One day Goddess Parvati created Vinayaka with the turmeric

paste (for bathing) from her body and breathing life into it, asked

him to stand near the entrance and guard when she went to

have bath.  Siva came home, found this strange boy telling him that he

couldn’t enter his own house! Furious Siva ordered his army to

destroy the boy, but they all failed! Such power did Vinayaka

possesses, being the son of Devi Herself!

  This surprised Siva. Seeing that this was no ordinary boy, the

usually peaceful Siva decided he would have to fight with him,

and in his divine fury severed the head of Vinayaka, killing himinstantly. When Parvati came to know about this, she was so

enraged that she decided to destroy the entire Creation! There

upon Lord Brahma, the Creator pleaded that she reconsiders her 

drastic plan. She said she would, but only if two conditions were

met (1) that Vinayaka be brought back to life, (2), that he is forever worshipped before all the other Gods.

The head of a dead elephant which was lying with its head

north was brought, placed on the body of Vinayaka and Lord

Siva infused life in to it.

Ganesh Chathurdhi

It is one of the most popular festivals in India and it falls on 4th

day of the bright fortnight of Bhaadrapada maasam

commemorating the birth of lord Ganesha and the worship of 

Lord Ganesh is being followed right from the Vedic times

The food we offer to Lord Ganesh is also very simple.

“Kudumulu, Undrallu” are cooked on steam without using any oil.

This is a healthy food and keeps us free from diseases.

Bhajan :

deva Gajaananaa Gajaananaa Gajaananaa he Gana pathiDeva

Meaning : Victory to the Lord of all Ganas, whose divine parents

are Parvathi and lord Siva, and who has an elephant face.

Game :  Ask the children to stand in a circle. When the guru says

“Gajanana” all the children have to keep their two palms open

near their ears and when “Vinayaka “is said children have to sit

and stand while keeping their firsts near their temples offering

their respects to Vighneswara. A child who does otherwise is out.While playing like that and eliminating the failed ones one remains

at the end as the winner of the game. This game improves the

memory power of a child.
