Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter Jan. 17 th – Jan. 21 st This Week’s Assignments Math – We will continue our work with division. We will be working on division with remainders and being able to write a division story problem. Writing – Students will be wrapping up their snowmen stories and completing a final product. Reading – Our focus this week will be main idea. Reading groups are off to a great start. All groups have new books and will be meeting soon to discuss. Science – We will continue our study on Matter. Our focus will be mixtures and a study guide will go home on Wednesday. Students will then have a test the following week. Reminders to Parents 1. Check and sign your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at school. Many students are not getting their assignment books signed. 2. Monday will be day 2 (Art). Important Dates Grade Cards – Jan. 7th Snow Make-up Day – January 17 th (Martin Luther King Day) McDonald’s Night – January 24 th (4 – 8 p.m.) ½ Day – Friday, Feb. 4 th dismiss @ 11:30 (PD for teachers) Valentine Party – Friday, Feb. 11 th 1:30 – 2:30 Something to Talk About!
