As part of Nation Wide programme launched by the All India Congress (AICC), the JKPCC has or- ganized district wise protests in the entire Jammu and Kashmir against the unprecedent hike in petroleum, diesel and LPG, describing it as anti-people measure adopted by the Modi Govt. According to statement issued to this correspon- dent, The District Presi- dents of the Party also sub- mitted memorandum to DDC Doda Dr. Sagar D. Doifode, demanding that price escalation of diesel and petrol must be stopped very immediately. Sheikh Mujeeb said that during the last three and half month, the BJP Govt has increased 21/ petrol and Rs. 26 on diesel putting heavy burden on the people, which is absolutely unjusti- fied and deserves strong condemnation. Mujeeb further said that the wrong polices adopted by the government was re- sponsible for the hike in petrol, diesel and LPG de- spite the price on crude oil constantly remaining less than 50 percent for the last six years, ironically the pe- troleum and diesel prices are skyrocketing, as a result, common people especially transporters, farmers and other sections of the people are bearing the brunt of price hike. The excise duty was 9.20 per litre on petrol and Rs. 3.46 per litre on diesel whereas in six years after assuming power Modi Govt has increased it to Rs. 23.78 on petrol and Rs. 28.37 on Diesel per litre increasing it to 820 % on diesel and 258% on petrol, they said. Out of a total of 319 bars in the Union Terri- tory of J&K, there are 311 such bars in Jammu Divi- sion whereas in Kashmir Division there are nearly 08 such bars and the Excise Policy in question provides for grant of new licenses for such shops and bars. The Excise Policy issued vide SRO 128 dated 25.02.2019 provides for the issuance of more licenses for wine shops and bars to the deter- ment of the culture, health, moral and spiritual values of the people of Jammu Di- vision. Registrars/ Sub Regis- trars of District Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua and Srinagar participated in the online training, im- parted by the Software De- velopment Unit (SDU), NIC, Pune in collaboration with Registration Depart- ment and NIC Jammu & Kashmir. For the convenience of the citizens, the Depart- ment of Registration is go- ing to switch over registra- tion of the documents work, which is presently being done manually, to online computerization in the Union Territory of J&K, to make it hassle free, smooth and time saving. In this regard, it has been decided to start the regis- tration through National Generic Document Regis- tration System (NGDRS) as being done in few other states of India. The SDU, Pune has al- ready developed the soft- ware as per the require- ment of the UT of J&K, for which trial launch was done by the Advisor to Lieu- tenant Governor of J&K, K.K.Sharma on June 15, 2020. Renowned Psychiatrist, Professor and Head of the Department, IMHANS, GMC, Srinagar Dr. Arshad Hussain was the resource person of the program in which he stressed on the importance of managing stress and anxiety during times of crisis. While highlighting the various aspects of stress management, Dr. Arshad said, “Covid-19 has already increased the stress level in the lives of the 21st century, it becomes imperative for us to inculcate positive out- look in such scenario and in this regard stress manage- ment plays a pivotal role.” Dr. Arshad further added, “In times of crisis such as Covid-19, we should talk to relatives and friends and talk good, positive things. Jammu and KashmirApni Party (JKAP) has de-manded financial packagefor the businessmen andhoteliers of Jammu’s OldCity areas and Katra knownfor religious tourism hub.

In a press statement, J&KApni Party, senior leader,Vikram Malhotra and for-mer minister Manjit Singhsaid that the business com-munity and hoteliers havesuffered financially due tothe lockdown period andthey have yet not recoveredas the restrictions continueon religious tourism.

Under this prevailing situ-ation, both the leaders saidthat the shopkeepers atRaghunath Bazaar and Ka-tra needs financial supportfrom the Government espe-

cially when the religioustourism has come to standstill in Jammu and Kashmirdue to covid threat.

They said that “Hundredsof families associated withthe religious tourism andassociated businesses arefacing tough times. TheGovernment must extendtheir full support and comeout with a financial packagefor them.”

they have appealed to theGovernment to waive offelectricity bills of people inJammu and Kashmir due tocovid lockdown.

stress and anxiety duringtimes of crisis.

While highlighting thevarious aspects of stressmanagement, Dr. Arshadsaid, “Covid-19 has alreadyincreased the stress level inthe lives of the 21st century,it becomes imperative forus to inculcate positive out-look in such scenario and inthis regard stress manage-ment plays a pivotal role.”
