Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority Reporting to the Manager, AIM (NOTAM & Publications), the NOTAM Specialist is responsible for supervising and coordinating the efficient and accurate provision of high quality aeronautical information services through the receipt, validation and timely dissemination of NOTAM, NOTAM Checklists, NOTAM Summaries and Trigger NOTAMS in accordance with the standards and recommended practices of ICAO Annex 15. Bachelors Degree in the Arts, Social Sciences or equivalent; and CSEC/CAPE Passes in Geography, Mathematics and English Language Proficiency in Spanish or French is an asset. Successful completion of ICAO Aeronautical Information Services Officer course (AIS021); and Successful completion of six months on-the-job training; and At least three (3) yearsexperience as an AIS Officer (NOTAM and AD/ARO). In-depth knowledge of the structure, functions and responsibilities of an Aeronautical Information Service. In-depth knowledge of procedures relating to Notices to Airmen (NOTAM), NOTAM Checklist, NOTAM Summary and Trigger NOTAM. In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 15 (Aeronautical Information Services) and ICAO Doc. 8126 (AIS Manual) Sound knowledge of ICAO Doc. 8400 (Abbreviations and Codes) relevant to Air Traffic Services and Aeronautical Information Services. Sound knowledge of the elements of, and procedures relating to the Integrated Aeronautical Information Package (IAIP). Sound knowledge of flight planning procedures and Aeronautical Charts. Sound knowledge of the routing structure of the Kingston Flight Information Region (FIR). Working knowledge of ICAO Doc. 9137 Part 1 (Airport Services Manual – Rescue and Fire Fighting). Working Knowledge of the JCAA Search and Rescue Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF), procedures and format related to the types and promulgation of required distress messages. Working knowledge of ICAO Location Indicators (Doc. 7910). Working knowledge of air navigation, navigation systems and navigation aids. General knowledge of aerodromes and their characteristics. Ability to interpret, format and transmit Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) and flight plans using the Air Traffic Services Message Handling System (AMHS). Ability to create, update and maintain AIM NOTAM database. Ability to assess and make precise decisions in real-time work situation and to remain calm under stressful conditions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to recognise and take measures to rectify human errors in the dissemination of NOTAMS and relevant publications. Good supervisory management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant applications.
