Guitar or Keyboards
• Must be able to play most major and minor chords. Advanced chord structures (ex. Dom7 Maj7 Sus4 Min7) is helpful but not necessary.
• Should know how to read chord symbols
• Some knowledge of reading notation
• Ability to keep time and play with others
Bass (in addition to above)
• Should know what style patterns to play over given chord symbols (ex. Root/fifth, walking bass, etc.)
Brass/Wind
• Basic knowledge of instrument mechanics
• Should know major/minor & blues scale at minimum
Drums and Percussion
• Must be able to play drumset
• Should be familiar with different styles (ex. Rock beat, shuffle, 12/8 blues)
• Ability to keep time and play with others
Vocals
• Must be able to learn lyrics to 4-5 songs
• Must be able to maintain a melody and stay in

Jam Camp Band Concerts Campers show off what they built together as a band as they perform LIVE at the Jam Camp Concert.
Band members receive FREE passes for friends & family to come and see you play!
The event is video recorded and your tuition includes a FREE DVDof your concert.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTSProgram Description and Goals Most people who study music hope to gain the confidence to play with other musicians. Coordinating with other musicians requires skills best learned though hands-on experience with professional coaching. This is the concept of our Rock Band class, Jam Camp! Students who have learned the basics of their instrument will have the opportunity to see what it’s like to play in a band. Played in a band already? Boost your band skills in our Intermediate sessions. Program applicants are matched with other musicians of similar ability to form a band. Each band is coached by experienced music teachers and consist of students on a variety of instruments plus vocals. Our Jam Camp studio is equipped with studio quality headphones, microphones, amplifiers, a keyboard, a drum set and percussion instruments all connected electronically to each other through our state-of-the-art rehearsal system, Jam Hub.
Camp highlights: • Learning and rehearsing songs• Learn how to combine and work with
different instruments and players• Reading simple chord symbols and charts• Learn how to work out arrangements and
improvising on songs• Learn how to run an organized rehearsal
and a successful band• Bands will choose a name together and
help choose song selections• LIVE Concert!
Program Schedule
Summer Sessions: Bands meet for a 2 1/2 hour coached session twice per week for 3 weeks, ending with a LIVE Concert! View the schedule for current sessions available at ricksmusic.com/jam-camp-details
Fall/Winter Session: Bands meet for a 2-hour session once a week for 8 weeks, with a holiday break.
Tuition $295 $50 non-refundable deposit due with Application*
*If the session you choose is full or not a good fit for you, we’ll do our best to place you in a band that will give you the best experience possible. If all sessions are full, your deposit will be refunded.
