About Client: Anand Engineering College Anand Engineering College, also known as AEC, Agra, is an engineering college in Agra, India. It is situated at the 18 km milestone on the Agra-Delhi highway, spread across 30 acres at a location overlooking Keetham Lake. The college, housed in its own building with 500,000 sq ft of covered area, was founded in 1998, and the first students graduated in 2002. This college comes under the SGEI (Sharda Group of Euducational Institutes), a group started in the year 1995, by P.K.Gupta and Y.K.Gupta, after the name of their mother Sharada Devi. It is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University.
Business Need Educational institutes with modern infrastructure require significant amounts of electricity for their day-to-day operations. With ever increasing electricity costs, solar rooftop power plants has emerged as an ideal solution to save on electricity costs.
With more than 500,000 square feet of covered area, the main building of Anand Engineering College had abundant vacant rooftop space which was ideal for setting up of a rooftop solar power plant. Enabled with net metering, the power generated would supplement the institute's electricity requirements and potentially cut down on electricity costs.

SolutionA 450 KW grid-tied rooftop solar plant was successfully commissioned by Jakson at Anand Engineering College, Agra recently. Jakson provided complete turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the project. The project was executed under CAPEX model, where the roof owner is the owner of the rooftop solar system and bears the entire capital expenditure of the project.
Jakson turnkey EPC services included supply, erection, testing, commissioning including warranty, operations and maintenance. A total of more than 1384 highly efficient polycrystalline solar PV module of 325 Wp rating was installed in the plant along with all other requisite items of a solar rooftop installation.
The plant generates approximately 6.75 lakh units of green electricity every year, to be mainly used for routine power requirements like lighting, running lab equipment, etc., of the college. The plant is enabled with net-metering facility which will allow for selling of excess power to the grid resulting in an estimated annual savings in the range INR 22 lakhs. Additionally, the plant will also help offset about 540 tons of carbon emissions per year.
