Scripture

We have received confirmation that SRE Scripture will resume on Week 1 Term 3 (every Friday morning between 10.45-11.15am).

Effort Criteria

This term, teachers have been reviewing the ‘Tregeagle PS Effort Criteria’ with their students in order to create more effective learners. High expectations are linked with higher performance. Students need to be challenged academically and need to be challenging themselves in their learning. The evidence points to the importance of feedback in improving student outcomes. A form of feedback that appears to be particularly effective, is feedback about a student’s effort.

These effort posters are up in every learning space at Tregeagle PS and are referred to often. If a student receives a ‘3’ effort rating, they are ‘completing tasks according to expectations for their ability’ (sound). Staff encourage students to challenge themselves to strive for higher levels of effort in their work. We would appreciate it if parents/carers could discuss this with their child/ren at home. For younger students, it could be discussed around our PBL Target of ‘Be A learner’.

Tregeagle PS Effort Criteria

4

Completes tasks above expectations for their ability

Uses a variety of strategies to persevere with more challenging tasks and or more difficult content e.g. choosing alternative methods to solve a problem

Participates increasingly in class discussions and is an active learner

5

On Fridays, we have been participating in peer

reading with 5/6B! Our students enjoy showing off

their emerging reading skills and progress.

We have been reading a beautiful story about how in

Australia, snow falls in the middle of November, and

the snow is purple! The purple snow turned out to be

the falling flowers of Jacaranda trees. We painted our

own Jacaranda trees using a splatter technique.
