Happy New Year! I hope that each of you had a
wonderful Christmas break! It’s time to get back
to work. I wanted to share some wonderful news
with you from the Georgia Department of
Education. Ruskin has been named a Title I
Reward School! The letter reads as follows:
Dear Principal,
Congratulations to you and your staff on being named a Title I
Reward School!
You have set aside labels and created a school that is focused on
student excellence and building strong communities. I know that
you and your staff will not be satisfied until every student is
succeeding at the highest levels in all areas. Thank you for all
the hard work, long hours, and teachable moments!
As we continue to personalize learning for all students in our
state, schools like yours make me confident we will reach our
goal of expanding educational opportunities for all students in
Georgia.
On behalf of the Georgia Department of Education and the
State Board of Education, thank you and congratulations! We
appreciate the hard work being done by you and your staff to
meet the needs of your students and provide them with a quality
educational experience. Congratulations on these outstanding
results and thank you for your success in educating Georgia’s
future.
Sincerely,
Richard Woods
State School Superintendent
Parents, we appreciate your continued
assistance and cooperation as we work together
in a partnership to do what is right for our
children!
Please know that my door is always open to any
questions or concerns you may have concerning
your child’s education!
Sincerely,
Kathy Stevens

Friendly reminder to parents If your child is sick keep them home
but call the school let us know. Fever
greater than 100 degrees, flu like
symptoms, nausea or vomiting needs
to be at home until no symptoms for
24 hours without assistance of
medication.
Flu season is here ~ Please get your
Flu vaccine at the Ware County Health
Department or Private MD. It takes
the vaccine about 6 weeks to build
immunity to the Flu bugs.
Remind your child to cough into
his/her elbow not into the hand. Wash
hands frequently to stop the spread
of GERMS!
The Help a Child Dental Van will rturn
in the spring on April 11-12, 2016.
Feel free to call the school clinic at any
time. My direct number is 912-287-

Thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of your
child's school life!

RUSKIN WINS 1ST PLACE AT WARE COUNTY TECH FAIR
Students in Tammy Gardner's 3rd grade WINGS class participated in the Ware County Tech Fair on Saturday,
December 5th. Students worked with their partners to create the digital photography projects that they entered in to the competition. While all projects were of exceptional quality,
Natalie Romero and Josue Delgadillo received 1st Place trophies for their entry. For their project, they created the
word "BRAVERY" using digital photographs of everyday objects to represent each letter of the word. Along with using a digital camera, they used Photoshop software to edit the photos. Mrs. Stevens, Ruskin's principal, expressed her excitement for their award, "I am so proud of all of our teams who participated in
the Tech Fair. They are doing an outstanding job learning to use different forms of technology, which goes right along with the STEM projects they are doing in class. Technology is essential
to life nowadays, so it is exciting to see our students learning to use it in so many fun ways at school."

VETERAN’S DAY CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY
Ruskin’s faculty, staff, students, and parents honored
our veterans on Veteran’s Day. It was truly an honor
to be able to recognize these brave men and women
that serve our country so we can have the freedoms
we have today. Because of you, we are free.
