PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENTIn today's fast paced society, time and speed are of the essence. To the architect, arduously long projects are the norm. Creation is a patientsearch that requires tremendous energy and resources. However, with the hands of the professional Architect who knows his trade and discipline, and with good understanding of the modern construction technology as well as the state of art information and communication systems, it seems that the Architect will prevail to create high quality Architecture in a timely fashion.

"...All of our activities and meetings during our visit were facilitated by Jae Lee, who served – and continues to serve– as the critical linkage between our office and our two associated offices in Seoul. Looking back now on thecompetition process, it was this initial human contact, the sense of a whole team working together and, mostspecifically, the efforts and remarkable effectiveness of Jae Lee – his continuous communication, his presenceduring the competition in both Seoul and Boston, his familiarity with our practice by way of his education at Syracuseand his double domicile in both Korea and the States -- that have all contributed to the success of this venture."-Fred Koetter, "Some Thoughts on the Competition" –

"...Jae, as an architect, with a foot in both worlds, his native Korea and his adopted home in the United States, allows us to make decisions and propositions that are in fact, common to both. We do, however, share a commonlanguage, that of architecture. Our common background of education, Jae attended Syracuse University’s School ofArchitecture where I later taught and I attended nearby Cornell University’s School of Architecture and laterHarvard’s Graduate School of Design where I was taught by Professor Werner Seligman, who was the long timeDean of Syracuse’s program, gave us a built-in comfort level.""...Jae was our lens into the culture. We prepared the basic design documents and renderings in New York andshipped them to Seoul where the team, under Jae’s direction, assembled the final boards, explanatory booklets, andmodels.""... I was pleased to see the optimistic attitude and technical skills of the team of young architects that Jae hadassembled and their willingness to work to the bitter end to achieve design excellence.""...To work in a foreign country with a culture vastly different from one’s own and have any expectation of achievingsomething memorable, a well versed guide is needed. I think of Jae as a sort of architectural sherpa climbing themountain with us and making the difficult look easy. Jae Lee has served me and my American teams admirably andwe look forward to designing the actual buildings that make up the first phase of the Sewoon District 4.“- John P. Reed A.I.A., "My Korean Odyssey - When it rains we all get wet" -

"Jae, Thanks for this however I think if you are not involved we are not involved. Lets look for something together.Any hope on the horizon? Best wishes, Tom. PS When are you back in the US?"- Thomas Phifer -
