THE PROJECT Cramer-Mühle KG in Schweinfurt invested in the extension of its pro- duction line. For the transport of grain and flour as well as the extrac- tion of dusts, the company employed the reliable modular pipework system of JACOB. The production and storage systems of the Cramer mill reflect, thanks to modernization and new machines, state-of-the- art technology. The grain mill has a production capacity of 800 tons per day. In the large grain silos with a storage capacity of 30,000 tons, the various quality grades are stored separately and milled separately. THE DESIGN During the extension project, the JACOB pipes were used in a major portion of the plant. Cramer especially appreciates the easy installa- tion of the modular pipe system. As a result, the installation and dis- mantling for maintenance and cleaning purposes is achieved quickly, reducing the time of production interruptions. Thanks to quick-act- ing clamping rings and border sealing rings, this is one of JACOB's special area of competence. As Cramer works with hygiene-sensi- tive products, the quality requirements for the pipe system are cor- respondingly high. Thanks to a high-quality stainless steel design, JACOB pipework systems offer a perfect solution likewise in this area. JACOB PIPEWORK SYSTEMS IN THE MILL INDUSTRY
THE SPECIAL FEATUREJACOB pipework systems are used on the premises of Cramer mill in view of the high quality standards. As the handling of food is concerned, components of high-quality stainless steel were used exclusively. In addition, materials with a high corrosion resistance are required in the food industry to enable their thor-ough cleaning and disinfection. Also in this context, the high-quality stainless steels of the JACOB pipe-work system proved successful. With the electri-cally conductive EPDM border sealing rings, the transport pipe was equipped according to ATEX- standards and the electrostatic charge is removed in an uncomplicated manner. This prevents the risk of a flour dust explosion. The selected lines were designed in the diameter range of DN 120/150 millimetres to DN 200 millimetres of stainless steel and have a wall thickness of one to three millimetres. The two millimetre thick pipework system is 3 bar ex-plosion pressure resistant in connection with the easy-to-install QUICK CONNECT clamping rings. The complete system based on a modular assem-bly principle of pipe components and mould-ed parts covers an overall length of 1500 metres.

Since its beginnings in 1806, Cramer has con-tinuously increased production and ranges among the leading mills in Bavaria today. The quality wheat grown in the Mainfranken region is the basis for flour of the high-est quality grades. The high quality awareness is demon-strated by the certification according to IFS and HACCP, which is, for example, intended to avoid risks in connec-tion with food that might lead to diseases in consumers.
