2 The water is treated via 1,000 feet of constructed wetlands planted with emergent species selected for their abililty to bind different contaminants.
3 Once cleansed in the sinuous portion of the wetland, the water would be released into a larger pond to attract wildlife.Herethepublicwouldenjoyaccessaroundthepond via trails and lookout stations. From the pond, the water is used throughout the farm and park for irrigation.
4 Any excess treated (cleaned) water would be returned to the river.

Soils Treatment Concept
Contaminated soils are moved to the eastern edge of the siteand planted with cottonwood trees. In this way, phytocapping—in which high water-intake trees act as a natural soil cap—creates a perma-nent,beneficiallandscapefeatureonthesite.

Culver City Green Space PlanCulver City, CANORTHEASTTREES2012
This $250,000 planning study aims to increase the appeal of Culver City parks through increased chances for passive recreation and for ecologically enhanced, water-wise, low maintenance spaces. NET partnered with Ballona Creek Renaissance and the Culver CityUnifiedSchoolDistrictonoutreachforthe project.
My roleAs project manager, I oversee all areas of the study, including in-person and online surveys, community and advisory committee meetings, GIS mapping, site analysis for the City’s 18 parks, bicycle paths and open spaces, anddesignoffivepilotsites..
