Lisa was living in her car, fleeing Domestic Violence, on probation, and had
recently completed an alcohol treatment program when she moved into SHC's
Permanent Supportive Housing program. The program combines permanent
housing with supportive services to connect participants with the resources needed
to sustain their housing and improve their lives. Lisa has emerged from
experiencing chronic homeless to being a full‐time student studying Criminal
Justice and Substance Abuse Studies. This has helped her understand her past
substance abuse, provides her with counseling support, and aids in her continued
sobriety. She is currently working at a gift shop and enjoys providing customer
service. "I believe in a higher power and I'm determined not to give up," says Lisa.
She has established her home and appreciates the support she receives from SHC,
her Housing & Services Coordinator, and the Management staff.
