Institution & Capacity Building in IWMP DarrangAwareness meetings and Training

Camps

Various awareness meetings at District, PIA and WDT level are conducted since 2009-10 for greater awareness on IWMP in the district.

Awareness cum MWS Committee formation meetings are conducted at MWS level in every IWMP areas. Various sections of the society are involved in the institution building process like women groups, youth clubs, SHGs, Backward class members, landless and poor etc.

Specialized training to target groups on SHG formation, accounts maintenance, livelihood activities in agriculture, veterinary and fishery sector etc. are conducted at MWS level during 2010-11 for sustainability of project interventions.

Bhutardal IWMP 2009-10 DarrangEntry Point Activity

(1) A Brick boundary half-wall with goat-proof fencing is constructed at Rainakuchi L.P. School under Ghorasal MWS during 2009-10 with a total budget of Rs.3.04 Lakhs and generating about 405 man-days of employment to local workers. It serves as a good enclosed playground for the school children with a scope for planting shed trees in the school campus.

(2) A Waiting shed is constructed at Jaipal Pukhuri bus-stoppage under Ghorasal MWS during 2009-10 with a total budget of Rs.0.80 Lakhs and generating about 105 man-days of employment to local workers. It serves as a convenient covered waiting shed for the local public during rainy days and summers with a good seating arrangement on all sides.

Bhutardal IWMP 2009-10 DarrangWatershed Development Works under 1st Year Work Component.

A public pond of 1.5 Ha area was constructed at Muslim Chuburi of Duwaripara No-2 village under Bhutardal MWS during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.4.76 Lakhs.

The said public pond was constructed by engaging the local villagers generating about 2000 man-days of employment. A goat-proof fencing has been installed around the pond with boundary plantation of fruit bearing and valuable species for economic development of villagers. The pond serves as a water harvesting measure as well as a water hole for the village livestock. About 50 numbers of farm families are benefitted by this project. The villagers have already released fish seed in the pond for fishery development, which will again benefit them economically about Rs.60,000/- annually.

under 1st Year of Watershed Works Phase.

(1) A Drainage line treatment at Adhikarigaon under Kanaichuba MWS is undertaken during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.3.00 Lakhs engaging local villagers by generating about 250 man-days of employment. The DLT has facilitated cultivation in about 50 Ha of paddy land and benefitting 120 households.

(2) A Gully Control Project is constructed at Hatipota under Lankapuri MWS during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.7.17 Lakhs generating about 250 man-days of local employment. The structure has facilitated around 150 Ha of paddy cultivation in three villages and benefitting 210 farm families.

Ramhari IWMP 2009-10 DarrangLivelihood Activities

Under 2nd Year of Watershed Works Phase.

(1) Under the Livelihood activities for the Asset less persons component, altogether 39 Nos. of women SHGs and 54 Nos. of individual beneficiaries were provided with Duckery (@ 50 ducks/unit), Poultry (@50 poultry/unit), Goatery (@ 6 goats/unit), Weaving (@ Rs.50,000/- per unit) units for livelihood generation. Also, an amount was paid in cash to the beneficiaries of Poultry and Duckery to meet feeding and nursing cost as giuded by the A.H.& Vety. Deptt. in all the 4 Nos. of MWS viz., Lankapuri, Bega, Kanaichuba and Kasomari MWS.

Under 2nd Year of Watershed Works Phase.

(1) Under the Production System & Micro-enterprise development component improved varieties of Ginger, Turmeric, Assam lemon and Paddy is cultivated by progressive farmers from backward areas by altogether 57 Nos. of beneficiaries in each demonstration plots as guided by the WDT from Deptt. of Agriculture, Darrang incurring a cost of around Rs.2.85 Lakhs.

Khatara Satra IWMP 2010-11 DarrangEntry Point Activity

(1) Field development of Nanai Paria Sangaskritik Gosthi at Sakiapara is done under Chamatia MWS during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.1.00 Lakh. Earthfilling and boundary fencing with iron gate is installed in the site by engaging villagers generating about 700 man-days of employment. The said works has facilitated the villagers to organize community functions, meetings, trainings etc. with enclosed boundary.

(2) A Drainage Line Treatment at Haripur Dovarpar Pathar is done under Khatara MWS with a total budget of Rs.1.00 Lakh by generating about 900 man-days of local employment. It has facilitated paddy cultivation on about 170 Ha area in two villages and benefitting 90 farm families.

Bornadi IWMP 2010-11 DarrangEntry Point Activity

A Hume-pipe culvert with Brick wall is constructed at Nawdingia to Halda-Solmara connecting main road under Nawdingia village under Jayantipur MWS during 2011-12 with a total budget of Rs.1.25 Lakhs.

The said culvert is constructed with double piping 90cm dia. engaging local villagers providing 200 man-days of employment. The new culvert helps the villagers for easy motorable access to main road for marketing of agricultural produce as well as access to medical care at nearby Health Centre (Borbori)

Udmari IWMP 2010-11 DarrangEntry Point Activity

Renovation of Garubandha Club at Garubandha Chowk is done under Udmari MWS during 2011-12 with a total budget of Rs.1.04 Lakhs.

The said Club situated in a good location was in a dilapidated condition with no use. It is renovated properly with site raising, plastering of walls, ceiling, painting with fencing etc. by engaging local youths by generating about 200 man-days of employment.

The renovated Club will now serve as a meeting and training hall of MWS and SHG/UG with good accessibility. The Club also serves as a centre for various village community activities and training hall for women groups, SHG, local youths etc.

Udmari IWMP 2010-11 DarrangEntry Point Activity

Construction of Waiting Shed at Namkhola Jatiya Bidyalaya Chowk is done under Gomthapara MWS during 2011-12 with a total budget of Rs.0.80 Lakhs.

The said Waiting Shed is constructed at the Namkhola Main Chowk of size 6mX3m, fully tiled finished with a seating bench on three sides. It is constructed by engaging local workers generating about 180 man-days of employment.

The newly constructed Waiting shed at the main chowk serves as a good shelter during the rainy season as well as in the scorching heat in the summers for the local public waiting for public transport. It is situated in front of the school, a sabha-ghar and adjacent to nearby local market to facilitate various commuters for a covered resting and waiting place.

Udmari IWMP 2010-11 DarrangEntry Point Activity

(1) Renovation of an Agril. Field Bund at Gargari Chamala is done under Chamalakhat MWS during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.0.75 Lakhs. Total length of renovation is 450 Rm and is done engaging local youths generating about 650 man-days of employment. The villagers are now able to carry their farm produce from the field using hand-carts more conveniently, even during the rainy season. The road also serves as a good approach to the nearby Health Centre for the villagers during any medical emergency.

(2) A Cycle Stand at Arunodoy M.E. School, Choudhurypara is constructed under Choudhurypara MWS during 2010-11 with a total budget of Rs.0.80 Lakhs of size 8m x 3m. This covered cycle stand facilitates to keep about 25 cycles as well as a covered shed for organizing various meetings, functions etc. of the school authority.
