State of the County Address Emphasizes Jobs, Roads, Border as Top Priorities Imperial County Supervisor John Renison gave the State of the County Address citing jobs, road improvements and the border as some of the top priorities. Job creation is the number one priority for the Imperial County, he said. They have been able to create jobs at the Gran Plaza in Calexico, Panda Express, Starbucks, Dollar General and others.
Solar energy is also creating jobs, Renison said. Last year was a "banner year" for solar, where more than 1,100 local residents helped to build the solar facilities. Four current solar projects are underway and even more are being planned.
Renison said it is also important to have job retention. For example, keeping National Beef Packing Plant open is especially important.
