Gina Scharf’s mother has worked at Mission Hospital for 15 years,

and her father and brother work for EMS in neighboring counties.

So, when Gina decided to become a nurse and also chose to work at

Mission Hospital, you can say she was inspired to walk in her family’s

footsteps. However, it’s her family of co-workers that brought her

back to Mission.

After moving to Charlotte with her husband, Gina missed the caring

and supportive environment of her Mission family. In Charlotte, Gina’s

co-workers knew her by name. At Mission, her team knew her as

something much more – a daughter, a wife, an exceptional nurse

and a future leader.

Now back at Mission Hospital as an Emergency Department nurse,

Gina feels at home and empowered to provide exceptional care to all

of her patients. Each morning when she leaves the hospital she looks

out at the sun rising over the mountains and heads for home,

knowing that she and her colleagues helped their patients

make it through another night.
