A few weeks before the start of the classroom course, the students and instructor meet in a virtual classroom environment. During this initial conference call:

Students are required to complete 10 e-learning modules of the Service Offerings and Agreements course before they come to the classroom. The SOA e-learning course has the following features:

•Modules are logically chucked so that learners can easily navigate their way through the course. •Students can continue where they left off; the learning system remembers the slides completed by the students.•The course is audio supported, and learners can also read the transcript, if preferred. •Interactive exercises and questions help students retain what they have learned.

Students meet their peers in the classroom and focus on the practical application of Service Management, Service Portfolio Management, and Service Level Management.

•Classroom sessions focus on “applying” the learned knowledge in a real-life situation. •In practice, this means that sessions start with a short recap of the theory, followed by exercises, quizzes, group discussions, and case study exercises.

•Students receive a Workbook that they can use for managing the practical exercises and case studies.•In addition, they receive over 600 pages of Reference Material that is repurposed to the popular e-reader format. Students can download this to their e-reader or to their laptop.
