The interscholastic athletics program in the Ithaca

City School District supports the personal growth and education of young men and women

through their participation in a comprehensive program

of sports. As an integral part of the community, our

athletics program actively promotes equity and diversity,

fosters the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence,

and provides community enrichment.

As a longtime member of the Ithaca Athletic Family, I

take great pride in recognizing and supporting our fine student-athletes and their

achievements. I appreciate the tireless work of our Sports Boosters and their critical

role in the success of our program. It is with a great deal of pride that I say

“Go Lil’Red!”—Jason Trumble, Ithaca High School Principal

Our athletic program has established a culture of excellence. We are very proud of the commitment,

efforts and achievements of our student-athletes, coaches,

parents and supporters. We hope that you enjoy your

experience with a very important part of our school

community. Go lil Red!

—Dr. Luvelle Brown, Superintendent, ICSD

Mediocrity has an excuse.

Mediocrity focuses on ME.

Mediocrity recognizes stupidity.

Mediocrity asks, “What is the score?”

Mediocrity...it’s about playing time.

Ithaca City School District is so proud of our phenomenal

student athletes. Students at all levels win championships,

compete at the highest levels, excel in the classroom and

represent our schools with integrity. As the new Athletics and

Wellness Officer for the district I could not be more proud than to take over a position representing hundreds of

student athletes, 48+ athletic teams and more than 70 coaches.

Thank you to the Booster Club and Ithaca parents for all the

unheralded work you do to support our athletic programs and

student athletes. We would not succeed without you!!!

—David Hanna, AD

Dr. Brown’s Culture of ExcellenceExcellence vs. Mediocrity

Mediocrity has an excuse. Excellence has a plan.

Mediocrity focuses on ME. Excellence focuses on WE.

Mediocrity recognizes stupidity.Excellence recognizes teachable moments.

Mediocrity asks, “What is the score?”Excellence asks, “Did we get better today?”

Mediocrity...it’s about playing time.Excellence... it’s about the experience.
