Request submitted by City of Diamond Bar for restoration and preservation of threatened natural habitat to 1.1 acre area of open space taken over by residents. They've built a soccer field, par course and movie screen resulting in loss of natural growth. Trail will be include low impact exercise stations, decomposed granite and other amenities include benches, trash bins, and educational signage.


Una Lake Wetlands Acquisition & Restoration 1

Antelope Valley Conservancy

Grant request submitted by Antelope Valley Conservancy to preserve, restore and establish further restoration of 147 acres of high quality Rift Zone of Una Lake, adjacent wetlands/uplands, and spring fed waters. Proposed project begins needed restoration and prepares for Phase 2 acquisition of additional 500 acres to Barrel Springs. Grant provides 2 years monitoring after which mitigation banking will fund ongoing stewardship.


Wildwood Canyon Preserve Acquisition Project (SD)

Glendora, City of San Dimas, City of

Grant submitted jointly by the Cities of San Dimas and Glendora for the acquisition of 17 parcels totaling approx. 509.5 acres of undeveloped hillside open space to preserve the natural habitat and provide low-impact recreation. Site includes habitat linkages for sensitive and endangered species, five permanent water sources, water recharge, open space and a critical corridor buffer between the urban edge and the Angeles Nat'l Forest.

114th Street Park-South LA

Trust for Public Land

Grant request submitted by the Trust for Public Land in collaboration with Heal the Bay and Grant Housing and Economic Development Corporation for the acquisition and development of a pocket park located in South Los Angeles. The project will transform a blighted vacant lot into a place for rest, relaxation and recreation as well as a local meeting place for community groups. The park will be located in the heart of one of Los Angeles' densest and poorest neighborhoods and will provide a safe place for families living in overcrowded circumstances to exercise, participate in community and cultural events and enjoy a natural native landscape.

Grant provides 2 years monitoring after which mitigation banking will fund ongoing stewardship.


16 Antelope Valley Conservancy

$1,282,700 1 Grant request submitted by the Antelope Valley Conservancy to acquire and establish for ongoing restoration, enhancement and preservation of an additional 500 acres of high quality Rift Zone Wetlands, uplands and spring-fed headwaters from southwest of Una Lake to Palmdale's Riparian Preserve and beyond to Barrel Springs. This $1.29 million acquisition grant will seed funding from NAWCA, Audubon, TPL and other partners to purchase conservation easements and fee title for critical, high quality wetlands and watershed resources. It will preserve wildlife corridors linkning the Angeles forest to Los Padres Forest, and connect and create new trails and low impact recreation assets.

Since Camp Liberty is 18 years old, the City of Cerrito is set to renovate the shelter by adding new security fencing, barbeques, a solid roof structure, tables, state of the art stage and sound and enhance lighting.

Peck Water Conservation Park Trail Development

This project is comprised of four aspects of a multi-benefit 200 acre recreation facility, including restoration and enhancement of habitat, creation of educational demonstration gardens and a network of trails. With a high need for additional greenspace, it is critical that the City complete this plan and better position itself for further park development projects and funding opportunities. A high emphasis will be placed on trail development, open space preservation and bikeway planning. This project will consist of two phases and involve contributions from City staff, the public, SCE, and neighboring residents. These projects are a part of a larger vision to create a continuous greenway space along the entire SCE easement through the City of Rosemead.

Sanchez Adobe Vista and Interpretation-Montebello


$5,000 1 Grant request submitted by Save Our community (inc, 501-C3) for invasive removal E of the Sanchez adobe and restoration of native habitat, access trail to Montebello Hills and Montebello City projects behind the Whittier Narrows Dam, nature/interpretive trail, plan for new habitat on South face of Whittier Narrows.

Santa Fe Dam Trail Enhancement Project


$420,000 1 Grant request submitted by the Watershed Conservation Authority for improvements to the San Gabriel River bike trail that crosses Arrow Highway into the Santa Fe Dam. Improvements include directional and interpretive signage, mile markers, re-stripping and landscaping along the bike trail. Project would also include the development of a rest stop area with restrooms, picnic areas and a landscaped open space area. These amenities would provide much needed infrastructure to the trail.

Sempra Energy Park-Montebello


$6,000 1 Project proposal submitted by Save Our Communities, a nonprofit organization to acquire and develop a passive park.

This renovation will allow for the public access of 1 additional acre of the park for public use.

St. Isidore Center Acquisition/Restoration-Los Alamitos

$1,418,605 Ineligible Ineligible Purchase of former historic church building to convert to non-denominational chapel open to the community. This project is deemed ineligible because bond funds cannot be used for restoration of building that does not meet program goals.

Under Ocean Intake Development

230 Long Beach Water Department

$1,100,000 1 Grant submitted by the City of Long Beach Water Department for building an intake and discharge demonstration facility for research in developing a plan for future desalination facility, while not adversely affecting public access to open space. The intake Galleries will consist of slow sand filters under the ocean floor that are designed to eliminate the sea life entrapment associated with intake screens. This project will benefit the pubic access to the beach by utilizing the excavated sand by placing it on the beach to restore the beach from erosion. Improvements to the parking lot will also be made as part of the project.

Valinda & Bassett Schools Low impact Improvements

231 Los Angeles County Flood Control District

$2,500,000 1 Grant request submitted by the Los Angeles County Flood Control District to incorporate low-impact development (LID) practices at four school campuses including: Villacorta Elementary, Torch Magnet, Van Wig Elementary and Basset High School located in the unincorporated communities of Valinda and Bassett. These improvements will include water quality, water conservation and landscaping enhancements within the school campuses while providing a recreational and educational resource for students and faculty. Implementation requires the successful negotiation of joint use agreements with the School Districts.

Vermont Median Pilot Dev/Assessment

232 Los Angeles and San Gabriel rivers Watershed Council

$285,000 1 Grant request submitted by the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council for a preliminary assessment of the opportunities and constraints along the 170 foot right-of-way median that runs through Vermont Avenue in South Los Angeles. Assessment will be conducted by Cal Poly Pomona planning students and will include engineering and design recommendations and construction of a pilot park along two blocks of the median (89th -90th Street).

Water Conservation Efforts at various Parks


$897,750 1 Grant request submitted by the City of Whittier for upgrading the irrigation systems at various City parks in order to achieve water conservation. Proposal calls for replacing obsolete technology irrigation valves and heads with match precipitation rate heads. The systems will utilize pressure compensating heads and valves to eliminate overspray and runoff and reduce water loss in the event of head or nozzle damage. Parks are located in community development block grant (CDBG) low to moderate areas as well as the city's redevelopment areas.

Water Conservation Features- Various Whittier Parks


$33,000 1 Grant request submitted by the City of Whittier for upgrading and improving the water features at five Whittier parks with automatic timed control. New features will include water conservation, with timed push button "on" switches. Proposed project includes small educational signs highlighting the water conservation efforts and its impact on the environment.

Water Conservation Master Plan-Parks


$250,000 1 Grant requested by the City of Whittier to prepare a master plan for citywide parks and medians to improve irrigation efficiency and reduce water consumption in the landscape.

Watts New Park Development


$132,550 1 Grant submitted by the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust to create a new park on a piece of LA City surplus property in a park poor neighborhood around the corner from the Watts Towers. A new play area, trees, covered seating area, landscaping, walkway, fencing and gates would be provided.

White Ave Park-Pomona

$6,900,000 1 Grant request submitted by the City of Pomona for the acquisition and development of a 4.3 acre urban park including a fitness trail, picnic and rest areas and other amenities.

Whittier Narrows Bike/Ped. Path Dev.

238 Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, County of

$7,740,000 1 Grant request submitted by the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation for the development of a 3 mile bicycle and walking exercise path, exercise equipment, warm-up stations, stretching apparatus, educational/interpretive signage along the route, and a bio-swale alongside the bicycle lane. Project includes native plant materials serving as habitat for wildlife amphibian, bird and insect populations and hopes to enhance public access through a directional signage program. Project will provide direct and indirect links to the San Gabriel and Rio Hondo River as well as historical and cultural opportunities in the Bosque Del Rio area of Whittier Narrows and adjacent natural areas.

Whittier Narrows Rec Area Development & Expansion


$6,100,000 1 Grant request submitted by the Watershed Conservation Authority for implementation of priority projects in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area Master Plan being facilitated by the WCA. Funding request is for implementation of priority projects in the plan, examining the feasibility of acquiring sites, and developing areas within the WNRA for recreational activities including a feasibility analysis for the Fiesta property and the campground in Pico Rivera. Other projects identified in the plan will include bike/pedestrian trail connections, directional and interpretive signage.

Zacatecas Park Playground Development

241 Azusa, City of $25,000 1 Grant request submitted by the City of Azusa for the development of a playground and low impact recreation at Zacatecas Park. Proposed Geo Sculpt TM play unit will offer a unique opportunity for children ages 10 and up. Project will also provide an excellent opportunity to augment existing recreation amenities on site while continuing to fight the battle of childhood obesity. The Play Ball feature would be the first of its kind in the State of California.
