  • It’s Time to Rhyme: Unit I

    Lesson Guide: Rhyming with Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVC) Word Families

    Overview: This packet covers four major topics in reading:

    1) rhyming at the most basic level (CVC words) 2) reading CVC words and sorting and rhyming words by word families 3) reading the most common sight words (pre-primer and primer) 4) introducing new vocabulary (e.g. “sip, jig,” etc.)

    This packet includes:

     9 worksheets that deal with rhyming word families (the families: -ad, -an, -ap, -at, -ed, -en, -et, -ig, -in, -ip, -it, -op, -ot, -og, -ug, -un, and –ut).

     3 worksheets that have basic CVC sentences and beginning sight words where the student/child must identify the rhyming words.

     2-page book the students color, cut, staple, and identify the rhyming words (again, simple CVC words and basic beginning sight words).

     3 coloring by rhyme words worksheets

     1 cover page if you would like your students to make a book with all the worksheets.
