• to develop students competencies in vocational training by using of a new technology like Geographic Information System (GIS)
• to increase students adaptability to the needs and to the dynamics of the European labor market by the continuous improving of the level of theoretical, practical and behavioral acquisitions
• to increase the practical characteristic of high school students formation by extending and diversifying the curricular offer with the modern IT like GIS
• to get acquaint of the participants with the European GIS practices at the educational level and also at the beneficiary’s level • to develop linguistic competencies and intercultural communication
• to develop team work abilitities, assuming tasks with responsibility

Week 1 (4-11 march 2007)
• GIS Technology. Software solutions - ArcGIS• Digital topography • Data management in ArcMap. • Using GPS for collecting data needed in a GIS application • Socio-cultural activities
Week 2 (12-18 march 2007)
• Using topographic equipments for a GIS application• Introduction in regional planning. Exemples from Montemor–O–Velho regional planning, Portugal• Software application for digital topography – AutoCAD• Socio-cultural activities

Week 3 (19-24 march 2007)
• Software solutions for developing a GIS application• Final product – developing a GIS application on topic: Clasification of monuments in Montemor–O–Velho, Portugal• Prezentation of the projects• Students evaluation and awarding ceremony• Socio-cultural activities• Departure
Theoretical and practical activities were developed by trainers from the partner school, using English language, they lasts minimum 4 hours/day and took place in school laboratories, on the field or at the economic or administrative institutions where Portuguese students are having practical activities.

EvaluationInitial evaluation – questionnaire applied to beneficiaries in order to evaluate the level of initial knowledge in GIS subject and in English languageContinuous evaluation• the trainers were made daily evaluation • permanent evaluation made by the accompanying teacherFinal evaluation• the trainers evaluate the final product of the practical work (a GIS project) • questionnaires for the beneficiaries in order to have a feed-back of the whole project, including project management and vocatinal training activities
