Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends of Dartmouth,

Join us on the Italian coast in spring, when the lush hillsides and pristine sunlight reveal the timeless beauty of the region. Our program includes masterworks of art and architecture, as well as visits to private estates and palazzi, many with stunning collections.

Traveling with us will be Dartmouth professor of music Steven Swayne and Femke Speelberg, curator in the Department of Drawing & Prints at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We will also be joined by cabaret star Steve Ross who will entertain us with his singing and piano playing. Town & Country editor Pamela Fiori will join the ship in Capri to discuss her book evoking the glamour of this chic, sun-kissed island.

Beginning in Rome, visit the exquisite collection at the Borghese Gallery, including works by Titian, Caravaggio and Bernini, before embarking the elegant Sea Cloud II. In Pisa explore the 12th-century Baptistry of St. John and the famed Leaning Tower; and then spend some leisure time in lovely Portofino.

In Genoa, one of the wealthiest cities of the Italian Renaissance, explore San Lorenzo Cathedral, with its black-and-white marble banding; visit the workshop of celebrated architect Renzo Piano and enjoy a private reception at the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj. Discover the glamorous island of Capri before disembarking in Naples, where we will tour the superb National Archaeological Museum as well as the extensive ruins at Herculaneum.

An optional prelude in Rome includes a visit to the Sistine Chapel “after hours.” On an optional postlude in Sorrento, explore the ruins of Pompeii and drive along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast to Positano.

Life aboard the three-masted Sea Cloud II has no comparison. Her friendly staff, fine dining and grand accommodations create an onboard ambiance of relaxed elegance. The spacious decks are ideal for watching the energetic crew practice the age-old art of setting the sails by hand.

We hope you will join us on this delightful voyage, co-sponsored with The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the

    National Trust for Historic Preservation.
