A “Beautiful Day” for Singer, Songwriter Alexa Whipple It was truly a “Beautiful Day” for Alexa Whipple of Arapahoe, Ne, at the 35 th National Traditional Old Time Country, Bluegrass and Folk Music Festival at Le Mars, IA where she was awarded by The Rural Roots Commission, “Contemporary Country Music CD of the Year” for her latest CD release entitled “Beautiful Day”. Bob Everhart, President of The National Traditional Country Music Association, presented the award and goes on to say, Alexa is one incredibly gifted vocalist, but she is also a gifted yodeler, and she uses this ability to enhance everything she does, whether it’s on CD or a live show. She also works with some of the best musicians in the upper Midwest. She is known not only for her really really good country sounds, but she’s not afraid to ‘stretch’ a bit and you’ll even hear a little Caribbean sound, listen to “I’m Here” another of Alexa’s originals. I would put this single song up against anything anybody is hearing on pop radio today….ANYWHERE! Alexa is not a newcomer to the NTCMA as she won the yodeling competition and placed in the country music singers competition last year. This year at the festival in Le Mars, Alexa had the honor of opening for “Whispering” Bill Anderson, Country Music Hall of Fame Singer, Songwriter, and followed Patti Page, a living legend by selling more than 100 million records making her one of the biggest female recording artists in history, for a Patti Page Tribute. Cindy Cash, Johnny Cash’s third daughter attended to Host the Program “Tribute to My Dad”, a collection of songs her father loved. Arriving a little late, she was introduced during one of Alexa’s sets, then seated on stage while Alexa finished. When Alexa attempted to leave the stage, she was held over to perform along with the tribute band. The National Old Time Country, Bluegrass and Folk Music Festival is held the first week of September each year, at Le Mars, IA Alexa’s second CD, Beautiful Day was recently released at the Burton’s Bend Music Festival Last
