which affected every school. From Mother Teresa, we say goodbye to Susan Miller,
Jenn Trydal, Lemar Borstad and Shawna Bulger who will join the St. Catherine staff in the fall.
It is that time of year in which
summer holidays are almost in sight. It is hard to believe the school year is almost over! It has been a blessing for the staff to watch your
children grow academically, spiritually and
socially. Thank you to the hard working,
dedicated staff and all the parents for
working as a team. Thank you parents for
supporting your child’s learning needs, and our
school. Thank you to all of our parents
volunteers who have so generously given their time, we appreciate your involvement and
support! Henri Chauvet, Principal

Grade 8 Business Charity
is back!
Business owners will only sell a specific number of tickets for their business. This ensures that a student (client) who shows up with a ticket will receive his/her product or service, regardless of the time that class visits the market. (If 25 tickets are sold to Bing-Bong's Candy Shop, then 25 kids will get to buy candy.)
Tickets will have been pre-sold. The actual tickets won't be handed out until right before the market opens to avoid kids losing them.
No more crazy line-up at the salon! Appointments will be booked this year and a ticket provided for each service that is pre-paid. We will do our best to book as many as possible in your assigned time slot, but we may have to be flexible. This was a very popular business last year.
This year's Grade 8 Small Business
Charity market will be held during
the afternoon of Tuesday June 7.
This year, the students have decided
that all proceeds will be forwarded
to the Red Cross to aid the people of
Fort MacMurray and the GP SPCA!

Parents...
We would like to thank the Education Foundation and the Mother Teresa School Council for their generous contribution to the Mother Teresa Student exchange. They granted us $1000.00 and $1500 respectively, to put toward the expenses of this trip.
Experiences Canada’s mission is to create, facilitate and
promote enriching educational opportunities for youth within
Canada for the development of increased appreciation and
understanding through programs of exploration in language,
culture and community. This exchange impacted 60 students
from Mother Teresa School in grades 5, 6 and 7. We built
relationships (many lifelong as there are already arrangements
being made to return to Quebec City to visit our “twins”),
learned more about this great country and most importantly,
learned about the French culture and how important it is to
Canada’s history.
This exchange took the students far beyond the classroom:
we learned about government in grade 6 social and we visited
the National Assembly in Quebec, we learned about the Iroquois
Confederacy and we visited a Huron-Wendat longhouse.
In grade 7 social we learned about Canadian history and we
visited the Plains of Abraham where the French and English
duked it out. We learn about teamwork and cooperation in most
aspects of the curriculum and we developed cooperation skills
while having to live with a “twin” and then have them live with
us. We even learned about ourselves: what our limits are, how
to cope with being away from all that’s familiar to us and how to
speak a language that is mostly foreign to us. Most importantly,
we learned new and exciting things about this country we call
home. Very few students actually get to visit the other
provinces and territories. Not only did we get to visit it, we
experienced it by living with families and sharing in their
traditions and routines.
Thank you for supporting our education outside
of the classroom!
Miss Vanessa’s grade 3 class did a Loonie Drive to raise money for Ft. Mac Murray.
The class alone raised a total of $1,251.00 then the ATA matched the class total AND THEN the
government matched that number... bringing the grand
total in donations to the Red Cross a whopping
$5,004.00 raised by one class!
Loonie Drive!
We would like to give another shout out to all of our amazing sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who has donated and
contributed to our children's future playground at Mother Teresa Catholic School! Thank you all for your generous support!!

June “Far up in the
deep blue sky,
Great white clouds
are floating by;
All the world is
dressed in green;
Many happy birds
are seen,
Roses bright and
sunshine clear
Show that lovely
June is here.”
~F.G. Sanders
J une is certainly a lovely month as
the poem above says. The longer
days, warm sun, all contribute to
the beauty of June. June is also a
month of celebrations; weddings, fathers,
graduations. June is also the month that
marks the beginning of summer; or
specifically summer vacations.
Vacations are wonderful things. A
time to rejuvenate, bond with family and
friends, and, of course, to rest. The great
thing about rest is that God actually
commands us to do it. It’s not a
suggestion. So many times throughout
Sacred Scripture God speaks upon how
vital it is to rest. God desires us to rest
because it shows that we care about the
mind and body He gave us. So this
summer my prayer for you is that you all
get the rest you deserve. Enjoy your time
with family and friends and may God’s
grace and blessings be with you on all of
your journeys.
